Sea Of Thieves is in DESPERATE need of some polish and bug-fixing

  • Unfortunately I don't see anyone raise this point so I will, Sea Of Thieves is a very buggy and unpolished mess at times and it can make the experience far less enjoyable.

This applies to almost all aspects of the game too.

Skeletons and other enemies lag around and teleport when in action making actually hitting your targets a pain in the rear.

Weapons like the cutlass have been buggy and broken for month, with their block and stun mechanics being unreliable at best and completely useless at worst.

And it can't just be me but most of the time the game just feels slow and tacky? Cosmetics and equipment taking several seconds to swap out / equip. Equipment and weapons not loading in for several seconds at a time, which can be especially frustrating when you're in imminent danger and your weapons refuse to load, the same can be said about food and other consumables.

In Tall Tales a variety of actions and scenes just feel a bit slow and are riddled with a variety of hard to notice bugs that stack up to create a bit of a messy experience.

I want to stress that the game hasn't always been this way. Head back to when the original 9 Tall Tales released and I don't recall issues like bad hitreg, slow loading of equipment, consumables and weaponry, laggy enemies among other things being noticeable, if existent at all? I think it's fair to say as the game has grown in complexity more and more the game has simultaneously been less and less able to handle everything resulting in a variety of bugs and issues.

Sea Of Thieves desperately needs some good TLC to make it feels far more polished, or even better Rare needs to find a way to fix the issue at the root and prevent the addition of more content from creating an unstable experience.

I love the game as always, but damn was the experience far more polished and bug-free a few years back.

  • I've been bringing up an idea I had for how to dedicate some extra time and focus to the bugs without having to take as much of an activity hit.

People say "stop with the content and fix the stuff" which personally I don't find to be realistic with how this game operates.

A season could be dedicated entirely to individuality and QoL. This would put space between large content updates that bring more and more to the servers which just brings more and worse bugs at his current time.

Individuality serves just about everyone that plays. We all want to express ourselves in one way or another and create our own styles. If we got a season entirely around being able to customize hair and makeup and clothes and and vanity items as well as add new stuff like piercing and nail polish etc it would not be adding large content but would be adding significant amounts of QoL for a massive chunk of the population. They would add shops for all this customizing where we could create our own hair and makeup and tattoos. They could work on ways to allow more emotes to be carried around.

I think that's about the only way to still keep people excited and active and engaged while giving themselves a window to address a lot of the server and performance issues.

  • Lag is a huge issue right now.
Especially when bucketing. I bucket water from bottom of ship. I go to throw water out of ship.
I turn to go back into ship I throw water into ship. My ping is outstanding. Not the 200 - 300 ping problem.

  • Sounds more a connection and system issue rather than game. Like the loading of certain items and teleporting npc enemies.

  • Wait, you don’t see anyone else bringing this up? I feel like it makes up half the posts on these forums.

Hopefully we’ll get to a point where updates fix more than they break. Unfortunately games are never 100% bug free though. And as far as I’m aware, the game has always had shotty hit reg. It’s not a new issue.

  • It’s probably because of the amount of things that Rare adds. The servers are probably tanking with all the Siren Shrines active and inactive, as well as PvP in the same server.
NOTE: I am no technology expert, rather, I am making an ‘educated guess’.

  • It's time for MS to open that wallet and up the provisioned resources for SoT servers. Also get to fixing their net latency between clients so syncing happens much faster for all location tracking.

This is more than likely an issue Rare has very little control over other than requesting increases since this is a MS/Xbox flagship.

  • While we understand your intent is to leave feedback, these sorts of posts do nothing to add to conversations and instead cause negative sentiment and conversation.

When you encounter a bug please report it to our Support Team so the team have eyes on how widespread an issue may be.

    Dropping anchor here.

    Thanks,
