What's your funniest experience?

  • Abhoy mateys!

    Tell me a tale!

I want to know your funniest memory or experience of sailing the Sea of Thieves.

This is a social game at its core and its often the laughs we share in game that make an adventure to remember.

    Here's mine:

    YMCA CLOWNS

Picture the scene - you're deep into a Fort with your crew and beating the waves of skellies. It's Fort 1.0 so it's fairly easy to get the treasure fast.

Suddenly you hear something; it has that tinny quality of someone using the speaking trumpet, but it sounds like music, music you recognise... Then the lyrics kick in:
*Young man! Won't it take it from me... *

I can only imagine what the opposing crew thought when they saw three pirates, party lanterns ablaze, dressed like clowns, with Village People blasting through the tannoy!

Hilarity ensued and in the chaos we may have stole the Fort! But the laughs as we approached took any animosity out of the battle.

    So what's your memory?

  • Probably that one time I ran on air chasing the boat. ;)

  • One that still makes me chuckle when I think about it, I had just set out with no real plan. I stop at Snake Island looking for captains or loose treasure. I look to my ship only to see someone sneaking on to tuck. I had nothing on board, so I decided to scuttle. The would be tucker had a hot Mic on and once he realized what I did sounded like a (grown) child being told they couldn't keep a kitten they found. No words, just a groan of pure disappointment and frustration. I was hiding underwater and killed him before he knew where I was which I would imagine didn't improve his mood.

  • This is a oldie but goodie. We were sailing with someone new for weeks and didn't know about the brigging system. They went AFK allot and one time when they came back they were in the brig. We went upstairs in the galleon and when they asked us what happened we told them that we got boarded and sank and unfortunately they got taken prisoner. We told them that we saw the kidnappers ship and are going for a rescue. We started firing the cannons and and making a big dramatic battle simulation periodically coming down to the brig and checking on the very concerned crew members updating them on the rescue. After a couple minutes we said we vanquished the enemy and retrieved the key to let them out. They were very thankful for the rescue. We sailed on a bit after that doing the regular pirate stuff but it was really hard to stop laughing. Right before our session ended we let our crew member know what really happened and they actually were more amused at our elaborate shenanigans than upset or anything. But by far it's one of the funniest things I've seen on the seas.

In our very first session on release we brought along a couple of chaps who had never played before.
We were messing about and put one in the brig, but for some reason when we voted to let him out, it bugged and threw us THREE in there and let him out!

He thought this was hilarious and eventually when we tried to vote him back IN we ALL ended up in there!

We had to scuttle the ship to make sure we could sail again, but it was brilliant!

  • I was solo slooping and had a reaper brig pull up on me. I took a gunpowder keg and swam over as they pulled up. I set the fuse and said "I've been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty". They were all laughing as their ship sank.

    my planner

  • Ended up finding a whole crew tucking on a solo sloop at fotd. Our crew ended up joining the tuckers. Another crew also ended up joining. Must have ended up as half the server all allianced and hiding on this solo slooper. Fun times.

  • One of the first thing's that comes to mind is from waay back in late 2019 when i first got Sea of Thieves, playing with a friend. I'd bought a little parrot who i adored, and we were hanging out at an island with a storm on approach.
My friend puts my parrot on the cannon and say's "He is going to fight Zeus. Silentkiller646, play him off". So i pull out my concertina.

    Ride of the Valkyries begins

    "Perfect" declare's my friend.

And my parrot soars off with the drop into the stormcloud as we both lose it watching him disappear.
I've had tons of funny experiences but that was the first genuine belly laugh this game gave me and i look back fondly at how simple things were.

  • I once tucked on a ship that got robbed by another crew the crew that was robbed found a villainous bounty skull after which I threw over board they where talking about having one piece of loot still went to look at it and it was gone

  • I've seen a few funny things.

Docking a rowboat loaded with kegs boarding then seeing a dude on wheel.

    oh shittze

We back up slowly. Dude proceeds to raise sail. I look at my friend go "this is really happening" dude finishes raising sail runs to harpoon.

We proceed to unload 2 more kegs off rowboat to bottom deck of brig and sink them at a fof.

    Gotta love them pve reapers.

  • @sshteeve funniest moment(s)...everytime I hit an enemy ship with a cannonball that blows up theyr keg under deck...happens pretty often lately...

  • @schwammlgott that is enjoyable for sure. I also enjoy when you blunderbomb a crows nest with a megakeg in there. Boy that really is a treat.

  • @hijack-hayes and a great throw as well!

  • @sshteeve I did it at Plunder outpost. I just waited in the bushes down by the Reaper table, waiting on the brig to pull in. That spot is perfect for ambushing.
