We should be able to put the ship in reverse by angling the sail behind the ship
Reversing ships
Only if the galleon comes with a loud reversing sound, or a "Vehicle Reversing" voice announcement!
Joking aside though @Im-tired-45 why would you want the ship to be able to go backwards?
@sshteeve seeing a galleon backing up with the soundeffect of a truck backing up if i see that i would laugh so hard ill most likely have to go to the toilet because its gonna be real hard to hold it in

Already in the game in 2 possible ways...first: gunpowder barrel, just put it in front of the ship and blow it up, far away enough so the ship gets no damage...second (I prefer that one): harpoon rowboat, my backwards parking skills became pretty good 😎
Edit: never tried it with a galleon yet@schwammlgott Third way that doesn't require a rowboat:
Crank your wheel in one direction, harpoon your ship to any surface in the opposite direction, aiming as far back as possible. Pull until your bow is pointed slightly in the direction of the harpoon, release the harpoon, rinse and repeat.
The counter-rotating forces will pull your ship backwards. Makes it easy to reverse out of a lot of situations, like when I nose into the that one turn-in spot at Reaper's, that everyone goes to.
@theblackbellamy ok...seems more complicated than with a rowboat...I mean, alone you gotta run back and forth to adjust the wheel...gotta try this...
@schwammlgott Lol you can leave the wheel in one direction, then sit at the harpoon making those short tugs until your ship has reversed far out enough.
After reversing, you can let go of the harpoon and let the wheel continue to turn you into an position in which you can drop sails and leave.
Doesn't require constant back-and-forth adjusting. Try it later, it's pretty fun once you get the hang of it.
@sshteeve OP wants to create a time travelling sloop, if it travels backwards at 88 knots per hour he can right the wrongs of his father at Hill Valley High School.

Ok...now I know, I won't need this...I use going backwards just to park on a few spots, dagger tooth for example...I know it's more efficient to park with the nose in front and throw the treasure down there...but I keep it stylish and park perfectly at the dock 😎
But I will try it...but next week, got no time for SoT this week
