So, appearantly hostaging (uncompleted) shrines is still a thing.

  • Earlier today I found a ship stationed, busy doing the Shrine of Ancient Tears. We snuck to them with a barrel, and sank them as they popped the loot siren. One of their crew member was still busy depositing down there and so a second loot siren appeared, while that ship had sunk. We had gathered all their loot, sold, and went on our merry way elsewhere in the server.

Fast forward one and a half hours, I pick up a Coral Bottle. Nice, commendation progress time, the clue leads us to;... Shrine of Ancient Tears. 15 minutes later, we arrive, and that mere Loot Siren with (probably only 1 or 2 items in it?) was STILL there. I dive down, the entire Shrine puzzle had reset, but all the loot was still gone, except the optional path, and the potion as part of our bottle quest.

Just because the loot siren was still there from the crew that touched it nearly 2 hours ago, the Shrine's loot refused to regenerate. Nobody had been near it for quite a long while.

  • Didn't you get most of the loot from that shrine earlier? When you sank the other ship. You could just chalk it up to pirate karma. Or you could have waited till they left the server. I do appreciate your greed though. Maybe it's a game glitch? Or maybe they did it on purpose so you couldn't take the last two pieces of loot with some unexpected effects. Anyways this is a great story and I've learned much. Thank you

  • Only if they leave game or lazy beard. I'm saying it glitched because we had loot respawn while we were at a shrine before collecting the mermaid.

  • Loot does respawn down there. Probably just a bug. But their loot merm will stay if their ship is still in the server. Thankfully there can be multiple loot merms.

  • @ninja-naranja For some reason it didn't respawn, and the only indicator of anything that was "off" was that the Loot Mermaid was still there 2 hours after they sank there.

  • @kapitein-kater maybe someone else had done that shrine in the 1.5 hours before you getting that bottle

I had it the complete other way...saw no ship, dived down, puzzles were all solved, but treasure was all over the place...

I don't think that affects it...we did a shrine (don't ask me which one), stored everything at the mermaid statue, was more than 20 pieces...I teleported to our ship, released the treasure, my friend put the rest in it and accidently hold "Y" on the controller and then came back...so I dived down again to put that stuff back into the statue, it was sitting there in front of the statue...AND all new shiny loot had spawned already...maybe this really has something to do with the storage-mermaid?
