I’m trying to understand the concept. You have to abandon ship to swim down, explore, loot. While your at it you have no ship defense. Your ship is sunk unknowingly in 30 seconds. You need a ship to transport your loot regardless of the siren storage. You won’t release your loot without a ship. Your shrine will be camped knowing you will come back or maybe you won’t meaning a total time waste for all. With forts your foe will be spotted giving people a chance to defend. Are the shrines instanced? Meaning a foe has zero access to attack while in the shrines.

Im no veteran at the game but I have grown to love and appreciate the game. The way Rare is doing things are prepping it to the beginning of something great. The pirates life cross over was (in my opinion) promote the game and show what it can do. After that they specifically said they were gonna focus back onto the lore and background of the game and new sirens and ocean crawlers. They needed a way to implement there history. In doing so they made these beautiful works of art that yes at a risk, can be devastating at times but with the player state of mind and strategy could be a gold mine for opportunity. You could be sailing any emmisary or reapers for that matter make a quick stop while no ship is around only take what you get because you have done it so many times and get that level 5 emmisary or that extra level with loot you needed for pl. Its all the way you look at the situation and act on it. We pirates are the gears that turn the equipment. everything else is just parts to a bigger picture. Sorry I was veering off of the su ject. No they are not. Other players may come into it and pvp.

The devs really like to use "sail together"; non-solo crews have an easier time - or at least can have an opportunity to spot another crew coming and take (whatever) action on that.If you think other crews are waiting for you to come back and activate the loot mermaid, guess what - excellent decoy: while they are waiting for you, you can do other things without them bothering you.
I would just get the experience needed to be fast first and not be too worried about treasure or sinking or emissaries
once you run through each a few times it's easy and can be done pretty quickly to where you can start incorporating emissaries and farming them if you want
a few will be slower than others but it's not gonna be a problem for many including solo once everyone gets the experience they need with them
These actually have some pretty darn good potential for a solo with the mermaid lock box even with the ship being at more risk.
I think it'll work out fine for people.

Many people camp above sea world events and as annoying as it is, it’s fair game. A two man sloop crew can’t leave one on board while the other dives below. I got annihilated by sirens solo lol. With 2 possible I think. I’m ok with crews. Unfortunately this game requires 3rd party apps to find team mates vs an in game lobby. I play on Xbox and it’s pretty sad Rare/Microsoft don’t offer a real time game lobby

get yourself to a shrine or treasury and invite me and I'll go in solo and do it or I'll watch your ship while you do it if you're having an issue and want help

I just did that on my sloop with my friend. I also go into the shrines alone. Perhaps you should use the meremaid stick more often against them!
Also you spawn in the shrine when they kill you.
Also not every shrine requiers fighting. You where in a shrine?
@wavestalker You can drop supplies off at a nearby island so there's nothing to lose in the first place. Go in with plenty of food on you and do the shrine or treasury. If the ship is lost, no worries. Go back when you feel safe and supplied to collect. If your ship is still there you can collect & go, do more, and/or raise emissary when you're ready to sell.
