Breath of the Sea

  • i think the idea itself is ok. the stupid part is having to go to the end of a shrine to get 1 piece of loot…further more you have to do this to get 30 times to get the commendation if you want the full coral ship set…afterall its no more then a reskinned gem imo…way too much work..should have been just a dig somewhere instead

  • I was honestly hoping it would be a special potion we could use. Maybe giving us a limited amount of time to breathe underwater. But its honestly a wasted potentional, and just another piece of loot to sell...

  • once a person becomes familiar with the shrines and treasuries it's easy and quick especially the shrines not unlike once a person figures out how to do vault puzzles with 1 medallion

    I don't have a problem with it although rng has been treating me rough when it comes to finding the bottles

  • @madfrito99 new loot with the essence of the gems that are individually 4x the price of the gems (4k, 6k, 8k) without emissary bonus.

    In some shrines they will need a bit of work to obtain but there are also shrines in which you can reach them immediately. For the amount of gold they give they deserve a bit of work 8k x 2.5 = 20k for one item when sold ate grade v. 10k for the lowest tier one. That is more then you get for chest of ancient tribute which up to now required more work and you get that in some of the shrines as wel together with all the other loot.

    In general most shrines have netted me 20+k loot without the breath of the sea.

    It would be boring to have it be just another dig, not to mention that this loot item lore-wise is created by the sirens and in their possession and thus would make no sense to dig it out on land where only their human converts (ocean crawlers) could access them.

    The amount of message bottles maybe should be upped a bit, but i sure as hell know for a fact that me and my crew that aren’t even strapped for cash will collect these bottles every time even after we finish the commendations.

    Hopefully they do become drinkable though, could add some cool mechanics to the game

  • I have my suspicions that, like the Siren gems added in S3, they might run an event that will require us gathering these potions that might tie into the lore for Season 5. As part of said event, perhaps they’ll make the bottles more common?

  • @madfrito99
    Since this is the hardest commendation, I don't go to a shrine/treasury unless I have a quest for a Breath of the Sea. It's not really a big deal. Are you telling me you don't want to enter the sunken kingdom more than 30 times? If you don't want to grind, don't. Wait until you get it naturally.

    @cpt-sockmonster
    Lore-wise, the Breath of the Sea is a brand new item found among the seas. No pirate in their right mind would drink some random potion from the Sirens (especially if they can sell it). I think that, as these Breath of the Seas are distributed among the outposts, then people will find uses for them, and a few crazy people will drink them and see the effects. Only then will the use of these potions make sense lore-wise.
    And, if you're wondering: "Us pirates can never die in the Sea of Thieves! Of course I would drink that potion!" If you've been reading books in the Sunken kingdom, you would've read Duke's words talking about how Siren magic creates mermaid statues to turn people into Ocean Crawlers. This was already known from A Pirate's Life, but now we know this for sure: This process corrupts the soul of the pirate. Therefore Siren magic can kill pirates forever. Knowing that, I sure wouldn't be drinking a Siren potion unless it's been properly tested.

  • You dont have to enter Shrines to earn these bottles....found 3 on another ship once...how generous of them.
