I went through the shrine of fortune 2 times and the second time I filled up the statue full of 20 loot. And I wanted to put a chest in there and the button said collect loot, so I thought it meant to collect the last loot I put in there but it emptied the statute and I returned to my ship only to find nothing on the surface please let me know if this is a bug or not.

You need to press the collect loot button when you are back at your ship... pressing it while you are still in the room releases it all back into the room you are in.
