Is the DPI glitch going to get patched???

  • I never even heard of the DPI glitch until a couple of months ago when during a game a general discussion brought it up and someone showed me what happens.
For a while I'd never come across it so thought it may not be such an issue, but recently every game session where I do a bit of PVP I see people doing it.

When I talk to these people they don't believe they are doing anything wrong.
If its classed as a game mechanic and not an exploit please tell me and I'll glitch all over the map.

  • It’s an exploit and I’ve heard of people getting banned for doing it. Not sure how rare could fix it but it’s certainly an issue.

It's probably easier than you think. Data is sent, monitored and recorded on where a character is looking and which direction they turn. Parameters for amount of movement over a set time can be made and if found to exceed those parameters you could deaden the sensitivity or even paralyse your character for a second or 2, call it a dizzying effect.
As the parameter is also a set over a time the quick flicks of movement people can do wont fall foul as these are quick movements over a fraction of a second. However erratic movement over half would.

In most games you can make your character spin like crazy but it doesn't make them move erratically through the map which is really the issue.

  • It's an easy exploit to identify without context and very very easy to identify with some context. Record it and report it if you want. It's intentional and imo as close as you can get to cheating as one can get without actually downloading something

Those that do it make excuses and act innocent when defending it but it's a clear and intentional action that is used to do something to interfere with equal footing combat.

Don't do it yourself, not only because you would put your own access to the game temporarily at risk but most importantly because you would be worsening the experience for someone else intentionally.

  • @wolfmanbush I have a question: is the glitch know to the point that it being used on purpose, some don't realise they've use it till the ban or both?

the kind of jitterbug we are talking here isn't just accidentally done by trying to dodge shots

it's intentional. People know what they are doing when they do it.

and as far as I know people are just getting short suspensions for it so they can knock it off and come back and enjoy the game.

Some exploits were actually really easy to unintentionally do like an open crew brig and the flag raising/lowering exploit as people are always clicking around things and sometimes people would have votes down and not realize it then someone leaves and a flag gets raised or lowered.

This one is intentional to do and is intentionally worsening another's experience in an attempt to win

  • @wolfmanbush got ya

  • @stroro My normal DPI allows for this to happen. I have never changed my DPI to do this glitch. And even though I don't do it intentionally in PvP scenarios, I might've done it on accident in the past. I literally found this on accident by trying to be goofy with my friends.
People think they are doing nothing wrong because it's so easy. Some don't recognize that when the devs say to not do something, you need to stop doing that thing. Which is why I believe any who continued to use the 120 fov cheat after Rare addressed it need to be retroactively banned.
I wouldn't use the glitch. I don't think that you should get disciplined for it because of all the different scenarios that it can occur in, intentional or not. But it's Rare's game lol, it's very possible that someone takes a video of you doing this and Rare decides to ban you for it.
I've seen a lot of really good players on the sea, nowadays almost no one does this exploit, thankfully. A lot of the users of that glitch are high on the "win at any cost" spectrum. It's not very good if you do it.

  • I have seen it done by an xbox player on a controller and it was unintentional he didn't even knew he had did it, not disagreeing with you it does need patched along with that being said there are more things that need patched such as double gun exploits, dolphin diving and other exploits that give an advantage to those that use them over those who play legit, rare has yet to fix pvp exploits but was more then happy to take out speed digging and speed bucketing, the current state of pvp in the game needs to addressed and fix by rare to make it more balanced and a fun experience for all players

  • @atomicfire4098 With an Xbox controller, you get the dodging movements that is intended. You can still easily get hit from someone shooting you while trying to dodge.

While recording this I had 10 sensitivity on the controller. And 600 DPI with 3.2 sensitivity on PC.
