Moving loot

  • I swear moving loot is the most frustrating thing on a sloop and there has to be a way to fix it.

Other than knowing when I am dead to pistol skeletons nothing makes me feel the way moving loot does... the harpoon rowboat helps a little during reaper sessions but we should be able to hire npc movers at outposts to move our loot (not sell it) but drop it at the end of the dock.

  • not something I'm into but you mentioned hire which creates sacrifice for objective which is fine in a risk reward scenario

the problem is that to design that properly it makes it kinda pointless and people can just do what I do as a solo which is sell what makes sense time wise and leave everything else alone or to someone else

  • What wrong with bending the knees, gripping the loot and lifting up with your knees?

    It’s mans work!!

  • It is part of the design of the game.

The very mundane act of loading and offloading of cargo is something many players do not consider.

Only airline personnel, freight handlers, postal workers, and the like can appreciate efficiency in these task.

This efficiency becomes more critical when you see that galleon making a bee-line for your outpost.

There are sweaty pirates that, no doubt, consider themselves above mundane labor and that works against them.

  • You could always be picky. For example, when running Athena, ignore everything that's not an Athena item. Saves time, and still generally gets you what you want.

Even with Reaper, you can still limit it to the higher value items like villainous skulls, Captain's chests, cursed chests, gems, Ashen chests, and Reaper/Athena items.

  • @galactic-geek I do this for commendations and did this for awhile while casually sailing, but seeing how successful the d.a set is I can see rare making 10+million gold sets for the other merchants soon so now every piece of loot matters.

It's just moving loot fills me with an overwhelming sense of dread that any second something could happen and moving loot is the only time I feel that way... being vulnerable sucks

To be fair, that means the process is working exactly as intended. You are supposed to feel vulnerable in that moment, moreso than any other moment. Because you are so close to the finish line, but not quite across it yet.

That said, they did give us collector chests to move things a little faster than before, but it is a very careful balance. So there is room for an argument to be made that it might be time to find something that gives a small boost to the process again. From a personal standpoint I don't think we are quite there yet, but as more loot types come to the game it is possible another assement of this process could come due.

  • I feel like there is too much junk now, maybe a reset is in order. By junk I mean too many small value pieces. It may be in Rare's interest to to reset it to less items overall with higher value. Keep the overall total value the same, but reduce the junk that is polluting the seas.

The idea of NPCs doing the work just doesn't sit well with me, I would rather have tools to help offload than the work done for me. One previous suggestion I made in the past is to put harpoons on the docks. This way players are given a choice and it won't require players to use it. Over time, efficient drop off points have been developed, but sometimes it would be nice to just harpoon it off the bow.

  • The way you have to hand the loot in is by design, to increase the time you're vulnerable.

It means that the player has the flexibility to play how they want to play. Can't be bothered lugging a ship full of loot to the various stores - sell more frequently and don't hoard.

See a ship making a beeline straight for you at the outpost? Right do I risk selling everything or just sell the high value items?

I also don't like any ideas where players with more gold have any kind of advantage in the game

There is more loot in the game.
I like the idea of more tools, perhaps a cart to stack chests located at each outpost dock.
A harpoon would help but may look weird on a dock, maybe a crane with a platform.

  • @galactic-geek what kind of pirate doesn't sell ALL the loot

I sell the planks even the plants if they aren't already dead lol

  • Being vulnerable for an extended time is half the point of it.

Some outposts are also better than others encouraging them to be hotspots.

I think shooting loot out of cannons could be fun though. Maybe a risk like if it hits a structure instead of the ground it explodes and is lost.

Remember it is very easy to recruit a helper on the official Discord when doing a big sell, it's huge profit for minimal work for them.
