Adding Furfits To The Pirate Emporium

  • Ahoy, I really feel like furfits should be added to the shop, to show that being a "furry" is totally normal behavior. It would be awesome if it was a free option that way everyone can create their fursona on the game! This would help make a more inclusive environment for us all.

  • I totally agree with this, i think they should be added to show support for smaller community's outside the game AND THEY ARE SO COOL LOOKING OMFG

  • What does this have to do with piracy?

The game is already inclusive I don't see virtue signaling as something that helps what already exists it just separates people by getting them riled up one way or another about something that doesn't matter here

and it doesn't matter here because everyone is welcome as they are provided they don't cheat or treat other people poorly

  • @wolfmanbush well this game is not about piracy, you might think about it

  • This is one of the best threads I have ever read. For sure they should implement this, as well as adding non-binary characters so everyone can feel identified with themselves.

  • I totally Agree! They Need to add this!

  • @wolfmanbush It's not everything abour pirates, It's about being a person and the human right and values...

  • What is a Furfit, and how does it differ from a Fursuit?

    @wolfmanbush

What does this have to do with piracy?

I mean it is only a cosmetic, who cares? Is just adding something Virtue signaling? I feel like in order to make it signaling would require Rare to announce it while simultaneously voicing support. Something that hasn't even happened yet.

The way I see it, is the more cosmetics the better. Nothing forces you to get it if you don't want it. If it irritates you that some people will be in animal costumes, pretend you are a poacher or something. Live out your dreams of hunting "The most dangerous Game," Humans who want to be animals.

All I see is more options for my character. Could I be a dude in a dress with clown make-up and cat paws? Sure, why the hell not?

Where did I say it bothers me in this capacity?

My issue is dividing people within a community that is already in an inclusive environment. Cashing in on this group or that group while taking the focus off piracy and adventure and putting it on picking and choosing who we serve rather than serving everyone.

The people that have shown support for this in this thread have brought up rights and values making this more than just a cute outfit request. I personally don't have an issue with people living their best life I have an issue with drama and division and bringing this in will create a lot of both.

  • I really don’t care either way. If they add the ability to buy and wear costumes like this then fine. If not, that is okay too. We are in a separate universe filled with legendary pirates. Some of those pirates are not necessarily human, or may be a human within a fursuit. It would probably get tricky if people are looking for their own identity (eg., “I want to be a pink turtle with a purple shell”). Especially if they also want the game outfits to work with on their model. I am not likely to find a pirate that fits exactly who I am IRL and I don’t care to.

  • its...its a damn pirate game, why?!

  • @wolfmanbush

Who designs the skins and who designs the adventure are probably on different teams. Who is truly divided on this issue? Its a cosmetic, I think you are reaching on the conclusion here. There is plenty of cosmetics that spark zero interest for me, never once have I felt that the designing and creation of that skin took focus of what the game sets out to be.

Not every skin needs to server everyone, because no skin already pleases everyone. I think looking like an pompous aristocrat is stupid, the merchant outfit if you haven't guessed. You don't see me raising a stink on how it detracts from piracy with their legitimate business practices and rule following.

Its just a skin, doesn't need to mean anything else. Some may attach meaning, but that doesn't mean their is meaning to it. If it has to have some connection to piracy, make the animal have an eyepatch. There you go, now it doesn't detract from piracy and its weird fascination with the maimed.

    In the op it states

to show that being a "furry" is totally normal behavior.

and why does it state this? because the community is small and mocked and picked on a lot which happens to pretty much all small communities that are trying to do their own thing and get picked on and mistreated. It's bringing the issue to SOT when it's not necessary

If it irritates you that some people will be in animal costumes, pretend you are a poacher or something. Live out your dreams of hunting "The most dangerous Game," Humans who want to be animals.

even your post here shows a problem. This would not only violate the rules (as people actually aren't supposed to individually target people) it creates an environment that is outside the spirit of the game.

You can give me the its just a costume narrative all you would like but there are examples in this very thread that show my point.

  • Wouldn't mind fighting Kermit the frog on a pirate ship tbh............

  • @nabberwar @furrybond-yt @felixking5821

I've stated this before but the why is really important. If the OP just wanted the cosmetics for fun and just thought "hey, it be awesome to look like a werewolf or a furry" I'd be totally down.

I draw lines at agenda's or reasoning behind inclusivity because that (A) opens a can of worms because anyone who doesn't get their own communitie's inclusive cosmetic will feel discriminated against, (B) inclusivity is just a load of crock. The whole belief that "everyone" is welcome is the biggest lie because not "everyone" is welcome. Its a simple fact. We are picking and choosing every time we say "everyone". The community and society decides which group is "allowed" to be included based on morality or whatever society deems to be morally right at the time.

If everyone is allowed then so be it but that also means people that society deems to be morally evil must be welcome as well since we want "everyone" to feel welcome right?? If you are going to pick and choose then at least be open about it. I can't stand double standards nor hypocrisy. World would be a lot better if people were allowed to be more upfront with each other.

I have no quarrels with more cosmetics. Hell, I'd even be down for Winnie the Pooh cosmetics. This is a cosmetic game, more cosmetics the better, but the reasoning behind it is important to me. I probably just opened a can of worms, apologies if this ends up derailing the thread.

  • It was bound to happen sooner or later after seasons and battlepass came in..link text

  • Thank you all for all the support so far! You all are incredible! I love this community so much!

  • Outside the other points, why should it be a free option when the cosmetics come at a cost?
Cosmetics are something to work towards to build your identity, whether by gold, ancient coin, twitch drops, etc.
What makes this so special it should be free when other cosmetics are not?

  • @bloodybil it's not a "fetsh", it's a life style

On your very first day on the forums maybe it is the best thread you have ever read. Adding non binary characters? How do I even know if somebody is or is not? Do you even play this game? You can choose a male character put on a dress and wear some crazy makeup. You can choose a female and wear a beard. Than you can rock the rainbow flag on your vessel and everything is fine. Very inclusive imo.
@xultanis-dragon nailed it. The why is importent here.
And yeah, not everbody is welcome here. There is a reason we dont have national flags in the game. What would be next? A KKK costume?
For op I dont care if you rock animal costumes in game but give them Pirat things like eyepatches or something.
I would not buy them, but hey, the game is not about me.
    Happy sailings everyone

  • @butterybarnacls

I agree, you want something you gotta pay......with gold.....shiny's....preferably the pokemon kind, but mainly gold. It'll probably be emporium though. I would watch a twitch drop for this lol.

  • @furrybond-yt

Don't you get hot? Do you wear it all day? A facemask does my head in! I thought gaming was an escape from reality, not that I am particularly opposed to this request.. This game is a chance to be a pirate for a bit and leave your mundane life behind for a while.. Could a duo sloop crew take the front and back ends of a pantomime horse?

  • @ghostpaw

Sir, rule 34 of the internet.

  • @xultanis-dragon

Ahem... I cite rules 35 and 36 (or is that 37?) good Sir!

Yup! Reminds me of a scene in Better Call Saul concerning pies. And the ability to sexualize anything is not enough reason to dismiss something. I think the biggest issue with this idea is that modeling different pirate shapes into whatever people come up with could be a real problem.

No, you can't put your furry suit, that's not inclusive...
