Plunder Pass Unappealing

  • Its just unappealing. Got the game as season 1 was wrapping up so it seemed silly to get involved. Season 2 i put the money on the table and ground my way to 100.

Disappointed you do not earn coin to apply to the next season pass. (most games do reward you some credit to apply to the next season)

Disappointed to learn i wont earn the PL drops from season 2 once i unlock PL.

Overall Paid Pass drops are a joke, miss-matched items... hook, eye patch, hat from 1 collection, jacket from another.. etc. there was no "complete" set to achieve with paying for the pass.

unpaid season pass drops are fine, actually its more appealing to just play it and see what the free drops are. There is literally no reason for me to invest in season 3. The rewards are a total waist of $10.

my $10 would be better spent just buying the cosmetics i like from the emporium.

Please make the paid pass rewards worth the cost, or at least, drop us some coin to put against the next season for a discount.

For now i'll just keep watching each season until the paid rewards look worth the investment. Honestly, gaming for nearly 35 years... this is the worst inception of season event rewards i've ever seen in a game.

Still enjoying the hell out of SOT, just trying to leave my reason for not investing in Season 3. Maybe Season 4 will be more bang for the buck.

  • @g33krawk3r If they gave everyone enough ancient coins to purchase the next pass, they wouldn't make any money to continue supporting the game. If you want to continue supporting the game, then pay up. Otherwise, stop being so entitled.

  • Honestly, Sea of Thieves has the best season pass in my opinion.

Most games add everything to the paid pass making you feel like you’re missing out unless you pay, Sea of Thieves just adds some extra stuff to the paid pass that you could go without.

I’ve played multiple games with paid passes before, Sea of Thieves is the first I actually paid for just because it was to support rare and if you add up all the things in the plunder pass, it’s a good deal.

  • @g33krawk3r
You do earn ancient coins to apply to the next pass, just not enough to fund it

Rare has stated they will bring back previous season rewards (including the PL stuff) in the future

The miss-matched items in the pass are actually adding to or completing other sets

You can look at the potential rewards before buying the Plunder Pass which could've prevented this, you should've just spent it on the Emporium if the season 3 pass is that unappealing to you. You don't miss out on EXP or Game Mechanics by not having the pass

Why is Rare at fault because you didn't want to study your investment?

until the paid rewards look worth the investment.

what investment? It's a burger and a coke price except you get to keep this stuff longer.

either you like it or you don't
either you can afford it or you can't

It's not expensive and the stuff that comes with it is a good deal. Not universally appealing as nothing is but still a value for the price tag.

It's not necessary at all to buy to enjoy the game. That's as pro gamer as it gets. Not buying it changes nothing negatively for you or your experience.

As someone that wasn't thrilled with them being brought in I haven't seen any problem with them at all as they have been implemented. All have seemed like a good deal to me.

  • All Plunder Pass items are Pirate Emporium items and as such you’re actually getting a deal. Wether or not to pay for it is up to you. Season 3 is the first season we’ve had all new items for the plunder pass so it’s the best so far.

Also welcome to the Sea of Thieves! This game’s battle pass is very different from most game’s passes. Try not to compare too many aspects of this game to others as there isn’t a direct comparison to be made.

  • @g33krawk3r

Wait until you get to level 90 or so before you decide to buy the pass obviously having had a look to see if there is anything there you really want. I really can't see any cause for complaint.

  • Season Three is the first time I've paid for a Plunder Pass because all the items are new, nothing I did not already own.
Like Ninja Naranja said, this makes it the best deal of the three so far.

What other games do with season passes are of no concern to me.

  • @galactic-geek yeah, I really don’t understand this surreal mentality, that people should be given ancient coins of any real value. I get if you’re young and don’t have cash, it’s annoying. But that’s the way it is. Support them. Or don’t. But complain less please.

  • The plunder pass in previous season hasn’t been the best but this season is a improvement with slightly more ancient coins and less reused PE item and more new PE item and more rewards

  • It's not an investment. And if you prefer to purchase ship sets and other cosmetics outright, then just do that.

Rare obviously is grateful for support they can get from players but really, this Plunder Pass is the best 'battle pass' currently out there, since most of the rewards are given to you without having to spend anything.

  • It would be nice to get a little something more with the pass. Such as:

    1. special plunder pass voyages, one for each company.
    2. an exclusive Athena run for PL's
    3. a special vault voyage that give up a fort key in stead of a chest for the puzzle.
3 1/2) new enemy spawn rate lowered by half
    4. vouchers to cash in for 1 free merchant crate of choice.
    5. voucher for one free cosmetic, baring emporium stuff.
You get the idea. Spice it up, make players excited to gain those levels instead of it just being a passing notification at top of your screen.

1 and 2 could be combined, but I like the idea regardless... perhaps once you reach a certain level in the season, you could pick one special voyage from the company of your choice (similar to a gilded)

    I also really like 4.

    Not a fan of 3.

Indifferent about 5. They already give out cosmetics, but choosing your reward would be a bonus. I wouldn't be mad if I saw a voucher for a new cosmetic.

Please make the paid pass rewards worth the cost,

Isn't the worth of anything subjective to a degree? My point being just because you might not find it worth the cost because maybe you don't like some of the cosmetics, aren't PL to get them all, etc. doesn't mean others feel the same.

  • It's the opposite of what most games do with their season pass, where they would lock most items behind the paywall and only give a few things for free. For that, I commend Rare on not being greedy and it actually makes me want to buy the Plunder Pass more to support them. But it's not a must, which I like. It's just a way to get some Emporium items for cheap or early.

Literally my only complaint (and I've said this before) is that when you get a ship piece on the Plunder Pass, it should be discounted from the full ship set price or at least save you a small amount. As it is, it doesn't incentivise me (personally) to finish a set knowing I'm actually losing out.

Other than that, it's great value. And you make progress in it before even dropping a penny on it, which is nice, and you can decide to buy it at lvl 100 if you want.
