Hey Rare devs, I'm sure you've already got plenty of concepts cooking for more dynamic open world content. This idea crossed my mind and I figured it can't hurt to share.
I was thinking about the sea storms and how I've observed most players to avoid them and generally find them a nuisance. I thought it would be cool to use these as a location for world event (on the scale of your fleets / forts / megs / karens).
Making there be a chance for the storm to have a special event at the center would provide players incentive to brave the choppy waters and lightning bolts. This could be maybe a battle against a creature that involves a giant whirlpool that you have to fight to steer against. I think the storm itself should visually indicate whether the event is there in the center. It would be frustrating to have to navigate through the storm only to find the event didn't spawn with a given storm.
Whatever the event might be, it may make sense to have it output above-average loot, similar to how the Devil's Ridge zone nets above-average rewards due to the increased difficulty of that environment.
PS - I love the new event and that the crab people board your ship. More shipdeck encounters would be most excellent. Now that you have the tech in place, smart reuse would be radical!
Cheers, everyone. The team is doing amazing work.
ps. -- I imagine the Disney stuff needs to be instanced due to contractual obligations, but is there any way we can get the mermaid statue event out in the open Sea?
