Will Gilded Phoenix drops rotate?

  • I'm trying to figure out, and I'm just not sure, whether the Gilded Phoenix stuff from Twitch Drops is a one-time thing. I know they're relatively new, so I'm not even sure that they've managed to drop the entire set yet, but if we miss an item from the set, can we count on it coming back around in another set of Twitch drops in the future?

I know that there are lots of sets that are limited time only, but since the sails are available in the Creator Crew, it would be neat to at least have multiple chances to get items, since having one 24-hour period for each of the set items seems like a pretty tight window to try and get them all.

Does anyone know more about this?

  • Twitch drops aren't new they've been around for at least a year now.

The drops given are a one-time thing, but there's a chance they can can come again next year like the ebon flintlock did this year.

You also just have to watch any partner for 20 minutes out of a 24 hour day and you'll get the drops so it's not a tight window.

I mean compared to something like a multi-day event, which sometimes have limited time items as well. 24 hours is plenty of time if you have to watch twenty minutes, but with events, there's at least a chance to get an item within a few days of time. You're right, it's not a huge amount of watch time compared to other games, but if I can't be at a PC for a day, which is not unheard of, it's tough to collect every piece. Thanks for clarifying with things like the ebon flintlock!

  • @goblyn792 you can also get the twitch app on your phone as long as you have your account linked. That’s what I use so I can watch in the background.

  • I just want the Frozen Horizon Dress (that I'll never use) to come back, I missed it by 2 minutes cause I tuned out of the stream and forgot to reopen it that day. 😂

  • @klutchxking518 I missed the jacket and hook from that set :/

Hopefully they do another one of those in the future. That way I look extra cool whenever my friends wanna rock ice themed cosmetics.

  • @ninja-naranja I feel they'll come to the Emporium and join their matching ship and weapons there...

  • @klutchxking518 possibly, although I can’t think of twitch drops that have ever done that.

  • I missed the belt, gloves, and pants of the Frozen Horizon set due to vague social media posts regarding the dates.

I hate it when they split up sets, but they're doing it again with the Gilded Phoenix set... 🙄

Just so everyone is on the same page:

  • @galactic-geek I am bummed that I’ve missed some of the clothing for Gilded Phoenix, but at least I’ll be able to get the entire ship set. Thanks for sharing this schedule!

Just make sure that it's with a SoT-partnered streamer, and that you are signed in with a Twitch account that is linked to your Microsoft/SoT account, or else it won't count. You'll also have to make sure you redeem it once you've earned it. I always check in-game right after to ensure that I got it too, just in case.

  • This set was totally off the radar, didnt even see a tweet so missed fridays.

  • They need to have make-up streams and I've submitted feedback in this regard. I'm currently looking at a possible hurricane soon which means power may go and it's the fact that some things are out of player's control that's the most frustrating because it could be ages until/IF it's brought back. The way the events are currently done reminds me of the horrible schedule they put in place for the cursed sails event where you had certain hours of the day to complete it and if it didn't work into your schedule then you were just straight out of luck.

It's precisely this why I don't agree with limited-time or exclusive content. It's a barbaric business practice, IMO.

You don't entice a bunny with a carrot on a stick; you entice the bunny to stay by offering the entire garden.

You’re right it isn’t really a tight window, but having only one day ever to get each piece is really unfriendly on Rare’s part in my opinion.

People are busy and human, and it’s very easy to forget when it’s just one day for each piece. They need to just give the entire set of 4 given items in one drop that is available for the full weekend time window.

I agree with certain time limited cosmetics practices but one day availability for a Twitch drop item is unreasonably strict unless it will be recycled for future drops like the obsidian stuff.

  • @chronodusk

I like how Rust does it. You have 3 items for any given Twitch drop period. Now, there are creator specific items, but that’s above and beyond. But if you just consider the 3 core items for a drop period, you have a long period of time (I think it’s like a week) to get them all. If you watch for 2 hours, you get the first. 2 more hours you get the next one. 2 more hours you get the last one.

That means if you want to break it up over a few days, you can, or if you want to sit and binge the 6 hours needed to get the items in the drop all at once, you can do that too.

It just works better for people who end up having to work or focus on school and might forget about this stuff.

  • @goblyn792

That would be infinitely better than Rare's current approach and it would still get them the multiple days of streaming viewership that they want out of these drop campaigns.

  • There are several stuff that keeps coming back, the Morning Star set for example. Some ship sets also.
