Accessibility option for motion sickness

  • First and foremost, I want to say that I absolutely in love with the game
Charming atmosphere and simple but nuanced gameplay mechanics that make simple act of moving from point A to point B interesting, on top of unique approach to progression and PvEvP
Basically – Sea of Thieves is one of a kind

Unfortunately, despite my soft feelings to this gem of a game I cannot enjoy it as much as I wanted
Because of a concussion I had in the past, I became prone to extreme motion sickness. The way I usually remedy it in first person games is to increase FPS by lowering graphics options and turn up the FOV
And while the game is optimized quite well as is, the maximum of 90 FOV is just below of what’s can be comfortable to me. Because of that I get a strong migraine after 1-1.5 hours of playing (which, annoyingly, is not nearly enough to get an emissary flag to max lvl and complete special quest). Worse than that – sometimes I feel fine'ish during the gameplay and get a headache after I quit the game.

For me 100 FOV is generally comfortable in calmer games (such as Sea of Thieves 70% of the time) and 105-110 FOV perfectly alleviates motion sickness even in most intense games (Titanfall 2 for example)
If the maximum FOV can be increased just a bit – it would mean the difference between an unplayable game and enjoyable experience for me and many others, suffering with the similar conditions.

I feel like this issue disproportionately affects PC players, since they more often are closer to a smaller screen then those with XBox, but even then some people use monitor instead of a TV

I would love to see the change to FOV. It's incredibly frustrating to not being able to play the game you love because of your stupid body not functioning properly

  • @uberpanik they already have said there is no plan to change fov past 90. they also took the work around out of the steam version as it was considered cheating.

    @deckhands

  • The 120 fov that steam players achieved was an exploit and rare patched it.

They've said they have no plans to increase the fov in the future.

  • I think Rare would have been fine if only those that can't handle 90 or less FOV would have circumvented the official rules.
It probably became an issue that needed to be fixed when those that try to get any benefit in a game used it en masse.

Sorry for your predicament and I hope another solution will present itself.

  • FoV topic is disguise, In B4 Lock.

  • @uberpanik

The FOV modification for Steam players was never intentional and has been removed in order to restore the intended settings of Sea of Thieves.

There are no intentions to change this in future.

Sorry me matey but dropping anchor :)
