I've read about this so much now back to 2018 and I've just played this game for 3 days and I've been stuck into trees 4 times now.
If you play with friends you can at least just leave or get bombed but darned when playing alone and having 20 chests on the ship I wanna kill this game. this is ridiculous.
One time I just jumped against a tree and got stuck mid-air what the hell is this.
and yes I tried lunging or getting drunk but it doesn't work.
Stuck on TREES
@awesome06354 Force close the game, and it will allow you to rejoin, the game treats it as if you crashed or disconnected. When you rejoin, you'll be on your ship.

I'd also recommend carrying a few blunder/firebombs on your person- you can use them to escape via death
