The sword, by itself, if hit-reg and backtracking didn't exist, would be decently balanced. However, because we have backtracks, the sword can achieve massive range, and even hit through walls and behind the user. That, combined with it doing 25% damage per hit, makes the sword one of, if not the singular strongest weapon in the game.
So, the suggested minor nerf. Change the cutlass' 25% damage/hit, back to 20% damage/hit. This would put the sword back into a semi-balanced state.
I propose this, because as mentioned in the first paragraph, backtracking gives the sword insane range. And nerfing the range wouldn't do much. Because the base range isn't the issue.
