The Sniper

  • i think snipers should be able to collate just like in csgo. that goes with skeletons and players.

to be able to collate skellys while doing a fort would be great while double gunning in case someone tries to tuck or bombard you while doing it.

to be able to have a chance to collate players while on their ship. could be awesome to see especially when going up against galleon players and their number advantages. (& sword players when they gang up on you when you're on their ship)

flintlock and blunderbuss stay the same.

it only makes sense for the sniper to be able to have that ability since it's a higher caliber and does more damage. i think it would go great when they fix hit reg soon.

  • @sexysparrow I believe The Eye of Reach doesn’t shoot bullets. I believe it shoots pellets, or lead balls. It’s more of a musket than an actual sniper rifle.

I also believe that the Flintlock and Blunderbuss shoot the same type of ammunition, just how many they shoot/how hard they shoot are the differences. Instead of it being the caliber.

Interesting idea though. It didn’t even cross my mind.

  • @sexysparrow truly not a bad idea at all, but I think the idea is that all guns are created equal - minus their range, therefore you don't want to add in new mechanics that then require balancing.

I fear this would be abused.

  • @sexysparrow can you explain the term collate?

I mean, obviously I know what it means, but there might be others who don't...

  • @sshteeve see, i was thinking a lot about this topic before i posted it and couldn't think of how it would be abused. it's all fair game. if teammates line up for a shot then it's their demise but most of the time everyone is running and jumping to come clabber you so a nice lucky shot once in a while would be nice.

i also don't think all guns are created equal. the range and damage are the things that set them apart. plus, the blunderbuss is kinda broken lol. thanks for the input though :)

  • @luciansanchez82 collate is short for "collateral" in most cod and fps games and it's where a high caliber weapon has the ability to shoot through multiple targets if lined up correctly, thus being able to have a chance to "multi-kill". it isn't common to hit collates either it's more out of luck. :)

  • @sexysparrow thats precisely how I'd have described it, already knowing what it is, of course.

I'll pass this on to my friend who was asking what it meant.

    I'm still cool and relevant.

  • This is a very cool idea!

Unfortunately hit registration is already infamous in this game, so adding collateral targets seems like it would compound the already existing problem... Sadly

  • @bactatankbill i know right lol. i'm hoping they fix it in this new update!!

  • I am not opposed to the idea, just because I think it would be quite a rare phenomenon, but certainly a fun and memorable 1 to pull off.

Though, I would worry about it being abused belowdeck on ships where there's less room to roam. All of a sudden, you have a long-ranged weapon in an enclosed space that can potentially kill multiple targets all at once. I don't know about that... Maybe if it only hit 2 pirates max, or did condiderably less damage with each additional pass through? 🤷‍♂️

...and what about objects, like gunpowder barrels? Well, I guess they wouldn't really matter. 😅

Skellies are easy enough to line up with a sword charge. I feel an EoR essentially doing the same thing, but from a distance, might also be a bit OP.

  • I dig this idea, I just agree that the other weapons would need some kind of small buff as well that would be situational like this one.

That is the only issue I would have with this is that it would force EoR into the best weapon spot instead of there being a balance. When you could hip fire it, it was the best gun in the game but they took that away to combat double gunning abuse.

Maybe the blunderbuss could have a chance of firing 1-2 extra pellets but it would be chance based so players wouldn't have any control over it. But that would be borderline op too depending what they set the chance at.

Idk good food for thought though

  • @sexysparrow so you don't think adding to the EoR being able to shoot through other people would make it more op?

Spawn campers would love stacking up returning crews and taking them out again with a single shot...
