So with the trailer dropping for this update, it instantly shows a pirate stealing treasure from what I can only assume to be the treasure of Isla de Muerta, which in the movies ended up giving the pirates the curse of aztec gold, making them undead.
With this curse they would completely transform into skeletons within moonlight... could this be one of the tall tale rewards? When applied our pirates turn undead at nightfall.

maybe but the way I see it the big loot pile is based on the potc ride not the movies
I think there’s a real possibility a skeleton curse is coming with this update!
Such a curse was teased as far back as two years ago in a live Q&A
in the trailer, you can hear what sounds like Barbosa getting a new body… and it’s a skeleton captain body
It would make sense from a lore perspective, depending on what Pirates of the Caribbean lore is in the game. (See the second bullet point)
Curses are usually saved as Tall Tale rewards, with the exception of the Pirate Legend Curse.
Yep, now sounds like a prime time to see our skeleton curse make it into the game…
