Drink ya grog ye scurvy seadog

  • We have session based cursed cannonballs that give limited harmful effects on ships/players when activated.

Let's have different types of grog that we can consume for limited beneficial effects for players.

Maybe a type of grog that allows you to move sightly faster whilst carrying a chest for a few minutes making unloading just a little bit quicker? Faster swimming for a few minutes? Less fall damage? Further sword lunges for a minute etc.

These are just some basic ideas, but it could easily be expanded and fleshed out to change other gameplay elements in weird and exciting ways.

The different types could be purchasable from every outpost and available to everyone, giving people some reason to visit the taverns! Perhaps it could be available ONLY to pirate legends through the tavern at the hideout?

Pirates have the reputation of loving their grog, and giving players some incentive to empty their tankards more often could be fun!

  • Good idea but it would have to be easily accessible to everyone and not cost money do that new players don't get put at a disadvantage because they couldn't get the speedy grog that costs 10000 gold

  • @paparug420
Maybe have it be a random drop from something like a chest of a thousand grogs?
I had an idea a while ago, that there were items that are opposite of curses: blessings. They are a throwable, and so balancing those with blunderbombs would be a hard decision. But, they can bestow buffs to you or your ship.

  • Drinking grog upon the Sea is not seen as a benefit, since you get drunk. It is however, a fun pastime that is occasionally pretty gross when you drink enough to vomit. Rare will not add a positive gameplay mechanic to grog because they don't want to promote alcoholism.

  • We don’t need these. Even if they were offered to everyone, this would just be a mess to deal with.

We have cursed cannon balls, that either effect the ship only or small area of blast radius.

    Sorry my vote, nah.

  • Yeah it would have to be a potion and not alcohol. You can’t show positive effects of alcohol and maintain a Family rating. Especially not in Australia.
Games get banned here if drugs and alcohol are seen to give positive effects.

  • True. They could go the Fallout 3 route and change it slightly... have "elixirs" that are consumed from your tankards, cheating the rating system.

I just want some new gameplay features to mix it up a little lol

  • The disparity between players is wide enough where new arrivals mistake sweaty veterans for hackers on a daily basis.

Sea a Thieves is wonky enough as it is already, we do not need dope on the high seas.
