Had some issue with my Steam edition of Sea of Thieves.
Game has been working fine for many months but suddenly it refused to start and gave the Lavenderbeard error.
I've seen this error two times before. Once I simply had to update the game to newest version, which is normal, and the other time I had to launch the game.... "Sign Out" and than "Sign in" again to re-link the XBox account.
Now that did not work. Once I signed out the option to log in again never appears. I just saw "Start game" or "Exit to desktop". If I start the game nothing happened and it just displayed the Ashbeard error.
SOLUTION THAT WORKED
Not sure if it has been posted here before. But what solved this issue for me was to:
- go into "credential manager" in Windows
- pick "Windows Credentials"
- right click all Xbl_Ticket and remove them (I had like 10 versions and they were pended with number that started with 1717xxxxxx)
- launch the game again and now when I pressed "start game" a Xbox Login pop up window appeared and I could log in normally
Hope this helps anyone facing the same error.
