Alright so me and my 3 friends are absolutely loving the game. My third friend got it because he saw how much fun me and my other friend were having on the Sloop, however when we could not use the Sloop for 3 people we decided to use the brig. I think that the big is the worst out of the 3. For the sloop it is quick, there is not much room so it is very easy to repair and get to places fast, and for the galleon with 4 people it can take so many shots and its only really affected when everyone on their crew is dead and even still it takes a pretty long time to sink. The brig takes only a few shots to sink, its big so you cannot tend to repairs, and it overall needs way more babysitting from the owners. Is there a way to get around these issues or ill just buy another copy for my fourth friend lol.
The brig is the weakest out of the bunch?
The brig is an excellent vessel. The best for a pve/pvp experience imo with a competent crew
It's the daywalker ship it's the best of both worlds.
Not a great experience if 1 is doing all the work and the other 2 aren't offering their services to a useful role.
Unless you have a 4 person crew that are constantly attending to their roles on the ship a galleon is a nightmare. She's a tank but she's a nightmare tank. If your crew is struggling on a brig a galleon will not be for you.
I hate the brig too but, to be honest, it's just a matter of getting used to your ship and how competent is your crew. And I'm lucky enough to play with a competent galleon crew when I'm not playing solo.
Regarding the Galleon. It's only as good as its helmsman and the discipline of its crew. So much room for mistakes and they are way more punishing. I would say that the better manoeuvrability of the Brigantine makes it a bit more forgiving in that regard (plus it's also easier to bucket water out of it). So all in all I would argue that on a brigantine you shouldn't sink against a less skilled Galleon crew unless you make huge mistakes like staying in its broadside for a long time.
Each ship has its strengths and weaknesses but I think they're roughly equal.
Aaaah, the brig. She is fast, very fast. She also has the best acceleration, and if properly handled she can catch all the other ships easily. (Yeah yeah, the sloop is faster against the wind and the galleon is faster with the wind, BUT the brig is the Goldilocks ship, and if your pray does one mistake while sailing, you will catch them.)
My crew loves this ship nowadays. I used to hate it, but it grew on me as i saw what it can do in proper hands. Its also easy and fast to bucket, and the helmsman can easily keep an eye on the water level in fights. Also the ladders are in his view.
Each of the ships have strengths and weaknesses. The brig in a good crew's hands can be a menace, but every member of the crew needs to be quick with repairs, sail adjustment, cannons, repelling boarders, and so on. The sloop and the galleon can still be effective if one crewmember is not contributing much, but if you are on a brig and one (or more) of the crew members is slacking (e.g., standing on the bow while ignoring the sails, playing music rather than fixing holes) then you are not going to survive.
I only use the sloop, but I will say that the sight of an approaching brig scares me more than that of a galleon. If I see a galleon coming, I can usually just drop sails and aim into the wind to give myself plenty of time to come up with an escape strategy.
A brig, if the crew is good, can be a real pain to shake. Straight outrunning them is nigh impossible and even staying ahead of them takes almost constant attention to the wind, your sail position, etc. As a result, you also have less time and space to prepare for outpost drive-bys or the old "Rowboat Sneak".
I imagine though, given it's jack-of-all-trades nature, that the learning curve to mastering it probably would be a bit steeper.

Its also the fastest. A Brig in its most ideal wind type, crosswind with a smidgeon of tailwind, is faster than any other ship in its respected wind-type.
@ghostpaw a dit dans The brig is the weakest out of the bunch? :

In combat against a competent crew, that is not really the case tho.
In those kind of ship fights on a galleon, you will have one man stuck on helm, one on repair and the 2 others will be managing sails, harpoons and cannons. If one of those is slacking off, either your manoeuvrability (which isn't the strenght of the vessel to begin with) or your firepower will take a huge hit. If the helmsman or the repairman is slacking off, you're just screwed.
The Brig is a fine vessel it just takes adjustment from the sloop.
The brig is a bit of jack-of-all-trades where you need to agree with your mates about roles during battle. Having a Gofer/Oddjob person to be on repairs, sails, cannons when the ship's in good condition, a dedicated cannonier and one person on steering. It does take some adjustment to go from the quick turns to a brig but, not much. The main thing is communication. It is also a good way to get yourself used to assigning roles so that when you switch to a galleon you wont be caught flat footed and riddled with holes.
Actually, I would argue the brig is the best ship. Here is why...
1.) It is faster than a sloop/galleon in crosswinds, so you can run down both other classes of ship.
2.) It has more firepower than the sloop...if you have two experienced cannoneers, it doesn't really matter how good the sloop is, they are going to struggle to contend.
3.) It is far more maneuverable than the galleon. Sailing a galleon feels like you are trying to drive a Star-Destroyer using a Wii Wheel. It sucks.
In all, it really is the perfect middle ground between firepower, maneuverability, and speed.
While it's true that it might have a little more of a learning curve than the sloop, once you figure it out it really will be the better choice.I would suggest that you just spend a little more time trying to learn it. I remember back when we gained our 3rd crew member, I didn't like the brig much either. But I stuck with it, and now its definitely my favorite of the 3.
