Be able to gift Ancient Coins or actually items from the emporium to Friends. It would be better this way than buying gift cards because you get to dictate which items to actually buy for them.
my guess is that since it doesn't already exist there must be some actual obstacle to it as I see no reason why they wouldn't have wanted this sooner rather than later
You can gift bundles but there isn't much freedom in that.
