Can you tell when a cheater is banned?

  • I was fighting a ship yesterday and ran into someone who was quite good. I shot him 5 times in a row with the pistol getting a hit marker each time after being sunk, I then healed through his double gunning in the water since he only had a sniper long range and wasted his blunder ammo at longer ranges. Then I grabbed the ashen winds skull on the rowboat I had from earlier and thought "Well, some of those shots should've killed him but maybe it was a no reg" - So I used the skull on him point blank for a good 5-10 seconds with no effect at all. I really didn't get it, did he have infinite health?

Anyway, his friend sniped me from the boat and the fight was lost. It really didn't sit well with me so I tried to look at their xbox gamer tag and found while one of them was a veteran player the other was an account with hardly any achievements and 1 follower looking to be a brand new account. I went back for another fight looking to record evidence of cheating this time but to my surprise while one player on the sloop was the same as before, the one that was blatantly cheating was gone.

So my question is - What's going on here? Did some kind of anti-cheat catch him and ban him? Did he come back on a new account or was it just back up called in to defend the loot?

  • @zappychan so who was cheating cause from what i can tell, you had hit reg issues and used a weak flamethrower to try and slowly melt someone to death.

anywho whichever one you reported on xbox, usually the automatic response would tell you if it got someone banned or if your in an active investigation with someone in support if you ask they usually can give you an idea on what's going to happen to them.

  • I think it's safe to assume not banned and server issues in that scenario

I think that's a big assumption giving 5 hit reg in a row and a point blank over 10 second long flame thrower not doing any damage. I never reported him before he went missing, he just outright was gone off the player list by the time I reported him as if his account never existed too.

10 seconds is a long time for a flamethrower to not be doing damage even with server issues and nowhere else in the session was I having issues. Only doing damage to this one specific pirate.

I don't mean to be combative here, but in your original post you say in part "I used the skull on him point blank for a good 5-10 seconds" then in your next post "point blank over 10 second long flame thrower" i'm willing to bet this is an honest mistake, but it does make a lot of us think your exaggerating.

Anyways, this does not sound like cheating to me either. The servers were laggy for me this morning, and i think if you had the same experience i had that it would explain what your describing.

Its all good man, some times RARE give you a fight some times RARE takes the fight from you.

  • @shifty189 I mean might be exaggerating saying over 10 seconds but it was for sure around that range. I've wiped entire galleon crews with the ashen wind skull point blank in less time than I used it on that guy and that is NOT exaggeration.

Is it normal to expend the entire ammo of an enemy pirate and still be able to not kill him while he's in the water right next to you unable to escape? I know there are cheating programs and trainers that allow you to ESP and make you unable to take damage.

I've played this game quite a bit, I'm max rank in everything and I've never run into a cheater or called someone out for cheating before but... I'm like 100% sure that guy was cheating. I am more just confused by his profile being a fresh account then later seemingly being deleted despite checking xbox console app, the xbox overlay and the xbox app itself.

My original question is more about - What does it look like when someone gets banned? Does their account disappear like that? Windows games do not make it easy to reverse engineer figure this stuff out and I've never even heard whether or not you get a response from staff if someone is banned you reported; let alone anyone being banned mid-fight and disappearing or anyway to figure out if they came back on a new account.

I think what might've happened is he got banned by some kind of cheat detection even before I tried to report him, disappeared then his friend who was not banned either a) invited him back on a different account or b) called in a new friend to take his place and defend their ill gotten gains... but I dunno. I'm really doubtful it was just server issues.

  • @zappychan
sounds like you have played enough to know if something strange happened or not, so i won't question that. I don't know much about what "trainers" in this game can do, so you might know better than me. My mind is stuck on the fact that the servers have been worse than i have seen them before as far as lag goes.

As far as what happens when someone gets banned, I don't know. I ASSUME they would only get banned for a specific game not the entire Xbox library. Sorry i don't have a better answer for you.
