Bring back the red skull for the Molten Sands Fortress

  • When the Ashen Keymasters and the Ashen chestmasters were first added to the Sea of Thieves we had a Red skull cloud in the sky that signaled they were at a skeleton fort. The red skull essentially indicated a fire fort.

Now the skull forts use the original skull cloud and we never see the red skull. We also never see the Molten Sands Fortress active either. Can we please use the red skull cloud to indicate that the Molten Sands Fortress is active?

  • It makes sense, as long as the Fleet in the Roar also gets changed to the fireball variety that was around for a bit as well.

  • I wish they would just mark the map with events and keep all the uglies out of the beautiful sky

the ashen winds event is alright to look at but the rest are not appealing and imo corny to view

you're very lucky I haven't seen it active for a long time

  • @closinghare208 ive seen it twice in last week or so. just let it despawn like the other forts.

But I think the cloud color could easily be changed. and I agree about the fire fleet for the ror

your lucky too i only see ashen lords and flamehead who won't shut up

  • They should make the Molten Sands Fortress have the Ashen Skull Cloud, and replace the final boss Skeleton Lord with an Ashen Lord (Maybe Stitcher Jim?), and make the Devil's Roar Skeleton Fleet, which takes place at coordinates Y25, have the Ashen Skeleton Fleet cloud, and make them shoot Firebombs instead of Cursed Cannonballs.

  • @schwammlgott

You must be very lucky to see the Molten Sands Fortress active. I almost never see a skull fort active let alone the Molten Sands Fortress.

Be that as it may, I feel changing the color of the Skull cloud to red wouldn’t be too hard.

I’m also not opposed to changing up the Devils Roar fort and fleet. Changing the fort skeleton lord to an ashen lord is a good idea, however I feel like that would devalue the ashen winds event. They could add a new weaker version of an ashen lord.

  • @coffeelight5545 Well seeing as the Molten Sands fortress is a 1/9 chance to be selected of the 9 forts, I think it'd be fine for an Ashen Lord to be there. Another thing, afaik, one fleet spawns every 3 skull forts, and there is 3 fleet spawns, one is in the roar...

So, 1/9 forts is in the roar, and 1/3 fleets, which fleets are already rare, are in the roar. I think they deserve to be different with chances like that.

  • @closinghare208
I soloed one 2 weeks ago. Seen a couple since then. It really depends where I’m located if I will do one. No reason to sail 15 minutes to it and watch it despawn when I’m 2 minutes away.

  • I have seen a few negative comments about the Molten Sands Fortress. I’m kind of surprised.

Yes there is a volcano on the island but the geysers do most of the work killing the skeleton waves. Essentially, this fort is most likely the only fort that can be soloed.

Even if Rare doesn’t change the frequency of the Molten Sands Fortress spawn rate, I hope they can at least make the skull cloud above the fort red

  • Just in case anyone isn’t aware of what the red skull looks like, here is a picture.

@lizalaroo I wanted to show you this shot. It’s too bad I can’t show it in the current contest

  • @coffeelight5545 Tis a beauty!

  • Getting unique icons for the same world event (but just a different location) would confuse the hell out of players.

You can already easily determine if a skull fort (or fleet) is in the Devils Roar, by just looking at your compass and map...

It’s not the same event. Yes the Molten Sands Fortress is technically a fort but it’s got an active volcano on it and most of the treasure is ashen treasure.

I’m not stupid. I know how to use a compass.

  • @coffeelight5545 It literally is still 12 skeleton waves with wave 11 being a captain, wave 12 being two ashen captains, and the final being a choice boss of a skeleton marauder. Loot pool means nothing dude, it's the SAME event. Just a different location. The only reason why some instances have a special Devils Roar variant (like voyages) is because they existed before the Devil's Roar even was released and had absolutely no inclusion on that region whatsoever.

  • @kapitein-kater

The location makes all the difference

  • @coffeelight5545 of course not. Even the skeleton fleet, or the reaper bounty/chest, all uses the same icon even if its in the devil's roar.

  • well, since we get a new fort event that has a red skull, maybe they thought it would be confusing to keep the DR skull red and they used the default one instead to indicate it's more like a normal fort.

  • @uzugijin

I had no idea that’s what they were using for the new fort. As an insider, I know what it is for but I can’t discuss because of the NDA I signed with Rare.

Honestly after seeing that video, I feel like my request is a lost cause now.

i wish they you know had a different color

  • @closinghare208

That would be an insider discussion. However, I completely agree with you. It shouldn’t be red.

i know it would be an insider thing so i made it very vauge

  • Having Molten Sands fortress have a red skull might be confusing to new players, especially with this new SuperFort they’re adding. However, I would still like to have Molten Sands make use of the Ashen Fort color. Same with the Ashen Skeleton Fleet, but that’s less confusing than the fort issue.
