New Clothing Suggestion: Classic Pirate

  • Hey Rare, it's Dave!

I was poking around in the wardrobe and wiki the other day, and I found that while the sheer variety in the designs available to us is amazing, the glowing kraken-slashed look seems to have overtaken the more traditional story-book pirate style.

Is there a chance that we could see some simple clothing added, like the great red coats, big black tricorns with feathered trim, striped stockings, high-necked cravats and long curly wigs?

If I were to rattle off a wishlist comprised by m'self and me crew, it'd read like this:

    • (Hair) Long Ringlet Wig
    • (Head) Straight-forward black tricorn with gold trim and white feather boa
    • (Head) Straight-forward black/dark brown tricorn with red bandana beneath
    • (Coat) Classic red frock with big cuffs and gold trim
    • (Shirt) Ragged beige shirt with an open black vest
    • (Shirt) High collar white shirt/cravat with crossed leather belts and vest
    • (Legs) Baggy red trousers (Could re-use mesh of Executive Admiral Trousers)
    • (Legs) Baggy brown trousers (Could re-use mesh of Executive Admiral Trousers)
    • (Hands) Gold trimmed black gloves
    • (Hands) Gold & silver rings
    • (Feet) Striped red & white stockings
    • (Feet) Gold Anklets
    • (Sword) Scottish basket-hilt sword
    • (Sword) Cup-hilt rapier

    Thanks for reading!

What sort of classic pirate attire do you want to see in the game?

  • just mix and match current clothes till u find that, regular sea dog feels pretty classic pirate if u ask me

  • Would love to see more classic pirate clothing come

  • Too many fantasy based cosmetics were added, now we need more authentic styles.

Edit: The hook from the first picture is a must in Sea of Thieves!

  • More purple. Seriously, aside from pirate legend clothing, there isn't any purple clothing in the game. Where are eggplant purple colours, or violet? There is so much red and blue, green and yellow, but no purple.

  • More simple clothing would be great! even just more recolours of existing stuff (new patterns/fabrics) :D

or even having 2 versions per set.
    1 gaudy/glowy version
    1 simple/non-glowy/non-chunky bits version

(that'd be nice for ship sets as well) I like some parts of the ship sets but cannons are unusable and covered in chunks)

  • Agreed. The game has way too many glowing, edgy and well crab/kraken set like cosmetics. Goes for ships as well. I would absolutely love some simplicity when it comes to cosmetics. Its a game about pirates not power rangers after all.

because irl (i know this game isn't accurate) the dyes that they had were red and mostly brown at that time in the 1500 to the 1700 when Europeans took over the new world

  • While there are a lot of glowy, non-realistic cosmetics in game, which just look (in my opinion), awful, we have to keep something in mind: this is a fantasy game. There's going to be elements of unreal-ism, although I will admit, on more than one occasion I have found myself calling people who wear the Athena's Fortune costume or other similar items "glowsticks" or something similar.

I have a pirate that looks fairly pirate-like, and there are tons of cosmetic combinations that look real. There are even some tricone hats, if you really want them. It is entirely possible to make your in-game pirate look like, well, a pirate.

I do agree that the game could use some more character cosmetics, and every idea you've given sounds nice. However, they are not necessary in order to make your pirate look like a real pirate and not some glowy sweatlord.
