If I could say one thing to the developers

  • If I could say one thing to the developers and the community it would be that quality of life changes that make the game better and changes that make the game easier are two very different things. I have faith the developers will continue to evolve the seas as they so greatly have but my biggest fear is community outreach to make changes that lead to an easier game. This progression is something we can observe in most other game series. Pokemon used to require earning an XP.share and making a pokemon hold it to earn the effect of splitting xp with the creature actually in battle. In the new pokemon games you are quickly given an xp share that gives battle xp to every pokemon in your party and the game can be casually beaten in less than 2 days. This track of evolution can destroy the beauty of what a game is and I would like to first acknowledge how SOT is the ultimate video game in my opinion. Games created prior to SOT were simply looking to do what SOT did and just didn't know how, there isn't an aspect of it I don't enjoy. While I eagerly await changes that make the game better such as hit reg, lore development, bug fixes, etc. I am struck by fear when I hear requests of starting with better food, buying storage crates, fast traveling, etc. as it creeps into the shadows of a simplified game. Even with the blackscreens and whatever else the game can throw at you it's simply part of every day's brand new adventure and nothing is more pirate than to laugh in the face of something working against you. If I could say one thing to the developers it would be to keep doing what you're doing so well (and to add a spot in the text chat wheel to tell your crew what color lantern light you have)

  • Armadillos?

  • @richskov the route of watering down while throwing baits at hardcore players is economically the best, but ethically questionable.
but it is almost allways the same, no matter what successfull game you can think of.

  • They havent simplified the game in 3 years and still have a growing player base, I dont think anything is going to change their minds at this point lol. if anything they could make the Arena last longer, like 20-30 minutes and not wait till 20 people join and start sooner, 3-4 ships is enough sometimes but i dont think they are gonna overly simplify the game anytime soon if ever.
