why do people feel the need to kill you when doing something nice

  • me and my fiance were coming off the game so we had 3 storage crates full of supplies. we seen a brig and took all the stuff to them and said they could take the stuff as we were coming off. instead they boarded the ship and kept spawn killing us and sunk the ship. we tried saying to them we still wanted to sell our emissary flag but nope they just ruined it. after the ship was gone i spawned back in the water and they still went on to kill me. anyone else find people like this just the worst. i stopped playing in 2019 for a reason, come back and i remember why 🤣

Your emissary flag is valuable loot for them.

    Perhaps they had enough supplies.

Next time, you should first get the money from the emissary and then give out supplies.

  • A Captain like Ringo has got a great big hole, right in the middle of himself. And he can never kill enough, or steal enough, or inflict enough pain to ever fill it.

With that being said you just simply take a lot of risk during encounters. They don't know you they don't know your true intentions. We all live in paranoia that is based in reality out there.

I have a suggestion though. When you're about done go to the ferry and wait for a tortured soul to arrive. Find yourself a friendly pirate and tell them where to pick up the supplies.

Pick a spot that isn't too obvious to randoms but still a place that someone might find eventually if your new friends don't show up to grab them.

  • The game is called Sea of Thieves and like @lem0n-curry said “Your emissary flag is valuable loot for them.” So others pirates are probably going to be thieves and steal your valuables. Bottom line first sell all your loot, then If you wanna be kind you can give away your resources to another crew, or you can find someone on SoT’s official discord to give your ship to.

  • Wouldn't have played out like that in PVE mode. People are just so rude nowadays. They just go so hard at the chance to stab anything. You go out of your way and all you receive is hate. That sucks. This game spreads nothing but hate and animosity to it's player base. The majority will always go wolf pack, kill or drive off any who aren't like them. The "gamers" who play this title really believe that they are justified to go around being human trash in game because the word thief is used in the title so anything a thief would be capable of in their mind is automatically the correct action to take. The words "just a game" and "don't take it personal" get thrown around with no thoughts as to why another might have valid reason for exclaim. Trash gamers flock to this title and will always claim that if you don't like the way they are treating you then you shouldn't access the game at all because it says thieves in the title and thieves only kill, steal, lie, cheat, curse and of course troll. Very toxic community here. They just came to party and how others might feel about it is irrelevant to their fun times. Love the game, but. . .

Wow you make it so you sound toxic yourself but ehmm let me correct a few things. Or atleast what i have experienced gaming wise in all these years.

( Btw I mainly like PvE but i do like some PvP in between )

You say that this would not happen on an online PvE oriented game ? Did you ever played World of Warcraft or any other MMO and did something nice but still got a snarly remark or insult ? well it happen to me atleast. Don't come here saying that such kindness would always be welcome in an PvE oriented online game because that is false.

About people can kill and steal you because of the word thieves in the game, well yeah kinda ? But also the biggest thing people keep failing when buying an online based game is to watch reviews and youtubers/twitch streamers to get a feel what it is about.

If you did your research you know the makers of this game had their vision of how they wanted to make it. It is like saying dark souls should have easy mode, which just breaks the design of what the game is meant to be which for dark souls is a difficult challenging but fair game.

Also most players don't tolerate actual toxicity, every respectful person player or youtuber etc agree's with that. No one should make racial slurs or insult you over a game. You can jab a few things like "better luck next time" "gg" but actual insults no one with a right mind say that is ok.

Anyway myself would not kill someone who give storage crates. But like said for reapers the loot is actual the flag. Although i would try to sink the ship asap but i would tell the others that is what i need and they are free to stop us.

But yeah common rule in this game is don't trust anyone and shoot first ask questions later. If you want to do some thing kind deliver your loot and flag and then give the storage crates. This is what me and a friend of mine always do after we handed in everything we leave the storage crates whatever left their is on the outpost for others to pick up. That is the safest way to do it.

  • @drt-8-my-cat your emissary flag was far more valuable than what you were offering them. Is it nice? No. Is it expected of pirates? Yes.
