Pretending to be friendly to join alliance only to kill is dirty dirty tactics!

  • As the title suggests, Pretending to be friendly to join alliance only to kill is dirty dirty tactics!

I’ve been enjoying this game so much with my 8 year old son since getting the series X and him using my old xbox one. It’s mostly bliss, we generally avoid combat as he loves sailing and digging up treasure.
We sail around with the alliance flag up in the hope more players join our crew as he also enjoyed seeing the different colour flags show up and seeing more players jump on our sloop.
What i’m seeing more and more of this week is players joining the alliance, jumping on our boat, and just murdering us for the fun!, we never have more than a single voyage worth of a few skulls and the odd random ship wrecked chest, these players know this when they pop on the boat, but honestly, what the heck like.
Granted, I appreciate this game is PVP free for all, and really in a real world setting no one should trust any pirate. But its so damn annoying I just have to rage quit out and join another server with him.
Still love the game! Only wish more people would actually be more social, and more people use their mics, as especially in the evenings joining randoms, 9/10 crews are not speaking and normally just leave when they realise the existing crew isn’t handing in any loot!

Rant over. I’ll get back to my fishing now! lol

  • @whm-aartwood 1st rule. don't trust other pirates.
2nd rule don't let other pirates on your boat.
3rd rule don't carry more loot than you are willing to lose.

  • There are no dirty tactics this is piracy

It's super awesome when people get together and be friendly to each other but there is no obligation.

The boy has learned a valuable lesson. Trust no one.

Well, technically it IS a dirty tactic, but dirty tactics are what pirates are all about so.....

Hello Sir , i'm glad that you and your son enjoy the game , but ... it's maybe a bit better to be more cautious in who you let on your Alliance ... If another ship joins your Alliance then try to make contact with them with the speaking trumpet , and ask them to use a microphone , if they don't use it ,then just tell them that they aren't allowed to come on your ship , they can stay in the Alliance , as there is always a chance that some people don't have a microphone or have anxiety problems , but a fair person won't come to your ship anymore but will still have the benefits and contribute towards thy mutual Alliance...

Voices , or better said , your intuition will tell you who to trust and who's not , just go for your first hunch and keep an eye to the talking ones ,if you feel uncertain... So , be a bit more careful who you let onto your ship , set your demands and ...those who don't listen and enter your ship without talking...well, you warned them before ...

  • That will almost always happen. If you really are playing with your son id suggest joining a alliance server.

  • I considerer doing this today briefly lol. Rolled up on a galleon doing a FOTD and had decisions to make. Attack? Sneak on board and hide? I ended up asking if they needed help and we formed an alliance and finished the fort up. In the process of loading up the loot, as I was carrying a mega key under their ship, I realized I could easily sink these guys and take everything, but I was a nice pirate. I let the squeakers go in peace : )

What is this alliance server you speak of? :o

  • @whm-aartwood They're discord servers that organize multi-ship servers to play in.

  • @whm-aartwood

Three things need to get negotiated while you parlay and do an alliance contract.

    1. Nobody boards another ones ship without permission
    2. Every ship keeps the distance out of cannonrange
    3. tell the others what you are gonna do, not where and maybe negotiate a timelimit to sell.

then hope it will work and know there is no guarantees. Never trust someone!!!! NEVER!!!!!

and like @Blackbeard-Lufy (respect for beeing honest and trustworthy) maybe try one of these alliance Servers where almost everyone is in a alliance and nobody will attack each other.
But it takes a lot of the tension away, but i can understand everyone choosing to play on them.

  • @whm-aartwood if you join a lfg people create servers where nobody attacks each other. On occasion someone will ruin their fun but it will help if you are just trying to have fun with your kid.

Also I don't use discord but ask around because their is a lot of discord servers that don't allow pvp which again would be perfect for your needs.

  • @whm-aartwood dude it’s a pirate game, not everyone will be friendly. If you have literally anything that can be stolen, it will be stolen (loot and supplies). I would suggest looking into the custom servers once they’re out if your son mainly enjoys sailing and digging up treasure. Sadly, I guess he did find out the true meaning of piracy:

    pi·ra·cy
    /ˈpīrəsē/

    noun: piracy

the practice of attacking and robbing ships at sea.

  • Most people run otherwise... maybe don't trust a pirate? Or just get better?

irl pirates used false flags and in this game some people I've seen use that flag to lure people in and sink them so i disagree it's not dirty tactics but fair tactics never ever trust anybody or if you do just give them the loot.

  • Sorry you have to experience this but that is a normal nature of the game.
