It explains the awful state of the games PVP mechanics and I honestly feel like the devs need to watch this and have a serious word with themselves

  • yawn I got bored twenty seconds in listening to some British guy whining about the game with quick-scoping gameplay in the background.

He ought to take those "Skills" to a proper game. Maybe Call of Duty, I hear that game's really popular with all the quickscoping nonsense.

  • @kalgert

Im guessing you have never played arena?!

  • @pvekilla420 "BuT aReNa IsNt ThE mAIn GaME noR is PvP oNlY"

But to answer your question: Yes, I have played Arena. Why do you ask?

  • @pvekilla420

DFTT dude! It has no other input to give other than bad vibes..

  • the time to kill if super fast in the game if it was up to me i would give the player more Hp or lower the weapon damage a cross the board....but i think the pvp in this game was never really planned out ..more focus on ship vs ship

  • Guy upset nobody is dying with his “double gun” quick shots. -_- I see no issue, paused and seen the hit register with the crosshairs. So he is hitting

Maybe just maybe...should try less double jumping gunning and more, slash and dash with a little blunder and bombing. Mix it up?

  • @pvekilla420

Just to highlight the issues mentioned in the video:

    • Hit reg is a fair criticism.

    • I agree sword range is a bit OP needs to be decreased.

    • Lag happens in every online game ever. Get better internet.

    • There is a fair sentiment in the video regarding the instability of game updates when they release, but it is taken pretty far over the top in this video.

In summary - this entire video makes a couple of fair points but is mostly over the top. A game like Sea of Thieves is very much a new endeavor for Rare, and while I agree it is frustrating to encounter a lot of these bugs, they do care and they do try. But you can say these things without [Mod edited] There's a way to voice your concerns, but this ain't it.

Obviously nobody is forcing people to buy the parrots and cats. Rare isn't demanding this of anyone in order to play the game or even have a better experience than anyone else. People do it because they want it.

[Mod edited] How are you even having fun in games if that's how you play? I agree that combat should function as one expects, but this entire video is taking the game more seriously than it is.

In a game where there are no true leaderboards and cosmetics are the only reward, it's amazing how angry and emotional people will get over being sunk and losing loot in a pirate game, or equally, being killed when they believe network issues interfered. The latter is especially more entertaining when you consider that the hardcore sweats are TDMing, which isn't even an official feature and therefore offers absolutely nothing to lose for dying.

  • So this is the kind of guy we are supposed to take his word for in regards to the game? I'm good, thanks. https://twitter.com/_TheRocketYoshi/status/1345835787447906306?s=20

So we shouldn't take his word because he criticizes game over its flaws that have been it for quite some time but your because what? Why are you more special and we should take your world over his? Because you have played for half a yeah where he has from almost launch, or because you don't criticize it?

My God, what is this guy's deal? "Rare is the worst! Sea of Thieves is a terrible game, please ban me so I stop obsessively playing your game!"

    ??????????????????????

  • @t3ero said in I suggest every Dev get together and watch this video:

I totally agree. I think they wanted and expected their combat spotlight to be on ship to ship, as you can see that ship combat is more fine tuned, more balanced, and more skill-rewarding. I don't think they ever foresaw boarding metas or high interest in Pirate Vs. Pirate and they've been sort of trying to play catch-up in that regard.

    That's just my observation.

  • @limend I have my own issues with the game, which is largely with the community rather than the game itself.

But even if I were to criticize the game, I probably would turn attention to how the "PvP" in this "PvEvP" game is largely pointless, and that it is a joke to consider the game to be some kind of "Competitive PvP" game as a lot of obvious PvP players disguised as PvEvP players like to call it as.

Or if I were to say anything about Rare, the harshest thing I would say about them is... That I believe they're complacent, rather than anything.

But that isn't really the point. The point is, why would I take the word of someone who obviously hates the game entirely, over someone who say... Likes certain aspects but not the others?

@chronodusk said in I suggest every Dev get together and watch this video:

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of these "Big-name Content Creators" for the game think the same way, only they keep playing it because they know it gets them a lot of views and because they probably wouldn't cut it in any other game.

  • @pvekilla420
This video brings out good point.
We payed for the game and expect product that works. I can understand there are bugs to work out but hitreg, backtrack is here since day 1 for 3 years.
I think either Rare puts a plan to fix those or XBOX services should return money and de-list Sea Of Thieves.
at this point they are selling broken game (product) with developers not willing to address issues.
    Sounds like scam.

  • I have a feeling that if all hitreg issues are caused by bad servers, Rare obviously would want to provide us with the best experience so we would spend more time and money and tell all our friends bout this game.
So the most logical explanation would be that they are under some agreement that forces them to use current servers for next x amount of time?

  • I take part in PvP a lot on this game, just as much as the PvE aspects in this game. I have played more than enough arena (I am a legendary sea dog) to be able to have a fair judgment of the hit registration. Whilst I do agree it is awful, I do not believe it is significant enough for people to quit the game nor is it “50% of the time you get a hitreg” as much as this crybaby wants to believe that. Hitreg, although is present in Adventure mode, is exponentially more prevalent in Arena, which is most likely why it isn’t Rares largest concern about the game at this moment. (Although 3 years of the mess is a bit of a joke).

  • Dare I say, it is almost as if Rare is more focused on making the game more PvE focused rather than appeal to PvP players...

  • @hexternal I am pretty sure Arena runs the same logic as Adventure so bugs in Arena exist in Adventure.
Its just in Arena you are more likely to interact therefore be affected by them.

@Kalgert This is not about PvE or PvP, this is about bugs that exist for long time. Unless your whole game play is about caging chickens, you are affected by it. Even skeletons go invincible from time to time.
Backtrack - getting killed by traps in Tall Tales after you clear them.
So unless this is Farming Simulator those problems affect whole game play.

  • @kalgert said in I suggest every Dev get together and watch this video:

Dare I say, it is almost as if Rare is more focused on making the game more PvE focused rather than appeal to PvP players...

I wouldn’t say that either. The simple fact is that the PvE is there to get you out in the world as a stepping stone to the central experience of the game: Entering the shared world for adventures where danger (of other players) is present at every turn.

The other fact about the game is that all of the mechanics are generally pretty simple so that the skill gate for entry and enjoyment is based on a pretty casual level. This is probably intentional and a likely reason we don’t have progression in the traditional sense or a complex combat system after all of this time.

I don’t think they care to place more focus on solely PvE players or solely hardcore PvP players. This game is a PvE and PvP game by design, and they rightfully expect all of their players to participate in both aspects in some way. And honestly, if a player isn’t prepared to wear both hats from time to time then the game isn’t really for them.

  • @jadescissors32 I understand that it’s just that you encounter far more PvP whilst in Arena, especially if you are like this guy where you TDM in arena matches.

  • Everyone here preaches “respect everyone’s play style” but as soon as someone posts a video of double gunning it gets shot down and the players get called [Mod edited] (Aka better players) Lol the hypocrisy knows no bounds. These are legitimate criticisms this game is almost 3 years old and bullets still don’t count or they miss and the person still dies.

  • No matter what kind of stand you take, whether you like or dislike double gunners, whether you like or dislike pirate vs pirate combat, whether you see this game as a casual game or a competitive game, in the end you expect a game to work as intended when you purchase it and when it doesn't you have every right to get angry and disappointed at the dev team. Especially after seeing the bugs getting worse consistently over 3 years.
The guy in the video makes a good point, if a huge amount of players suddenly "riot" maybe they will shift their attention to more pressing matters. At least one can hope so.

  • @hexternal and in arena those problems are nuisance but in Adventure mode that could mean losing ship.
Had encounter when what should be easy fight turn into disaster because after 3 blunders and two rifle shoots I had to chase somebody around ship while my ship run over the floating kegs.

  • @burnbacon Sword is just as bad. People sword through blocks and break the combo and nobody talks about sword lunge being just as bad as guns. Blunder bombs also have some of the worst reg in the game no thank you. I would rather stay with my sniper and my pistol and sometimes blunder cause at least those are forgiving of ping and lag.

As a community, we're split into three categories. Casual, experienced, or new pirates. Without spewing insults at each other we must be able to talk about the issue at hand that's affected all of us. To defend what's blatantly obvious will only cause further damage. It's time we stand up for the game we care about and show we aren't happy with how Rare treats ALL of us. The casuals get mind-numbing commendations to grind, the experienced players are punished for playing the game, and the new are punished for trying to express their indifference in skill (if you need a translation, they're punished for being new). Loot is worthless without flying the useless emissary flag, events might as well be considered dead. What Rare did hit perfectly was ship combat, which you cannot deny is probably the most appealing thing in Sea of Thieves other than its fantastic music and art style. Rare what I say isn't insults but fair criticism. Please understand I speak for me, my crew, and a community of those who want to enjoy your game as they did when released. We still enjoy your game but we want to make sure the game caters to all and not just one side.

While many will defend broken areas, I can defend them too. Don't worry I know your arguments and complaints about what I have to say.

Again, love you Rare. But please listen.

  • @kalgert Your argument "to play another game" is invalid when someone puts time and effort, showing their concerns or complaints as attacks instead of a cry for someone to listen is beyond rude and hurtful to Rare and the content creator.

When all players are able to agree this will happen. Halo 3 had hit registration issues on release to PC, and within two months was fixed. Rare and 343i are owned by the same company with the same resources and technically same staff, one must wonder if Microsoft simply doesn't care? Maybe Rare is trying, the issue may be harder than it seems for us. But I do agree, a game that's three years into development with monthly updates seems a bit odd to still be broken.

hit reg gives me bad vibes

  • @kalgert I like to do pve but I use a double gun to protect my loot so I would like it when I have 4 hours of stuff on my boat and someone boards AND ITS LIKE IM SHOOTING NERF DARTS

  • @seamobboss You know, the same argument is levied againt people who show a bit of dissatisfaction with the PvP, and are told "Oh, you don't like PvP in this game? Go play something else then lul". Why, is it not a nice thing when the shoe's on the other foot?

Besides, they're big boys, I highly doubt their feelings are going to be shattered because some guy on an internet game forum said "Go play something else"
