Birds are extremely hard to see in HDR

  • I have spent a lot of time tweaking settings, adjusting HDR brightness, etc. and no matter what I do, gulls will often fade against clouds in HDR making them often impossible to see especially at close range and against clouds if you not using a telescope (which I am guessing applies a filter or LOD change or something).

The only solution is to play with HDR turned off which solves that issue, but makes the game far less pretty.

  • @bunny0viking I only have a hard time finding thise birds at night when coming closer...
Those are no problems in HDR, only the dark nighttime, or when adjusted it so it's brighter, the bright daytimes are a bit of an issue for me...

  • @schwammlgott yeah its a hard one, im sure there could be a lot of factors to it... I did a pretty thorough play with the in-game graphics settings AND my monitor settings (changing backlight values, HDR point in-game, particle and various other in game settings like shadows, etc) but the only thing that has consistently resolved it is turning off the windows 'play games in HDR' setting.

When I watch what is happening in game it very much looks like the birds blend into the clouds, not just that they're a similar colour, but that the shaders, or the depth rendering in HDR mode is equalising the colour.

With HDR off, the birds arent always clear because of similar colours but they dont seem to fade into the clouds and turn totally invisible.
