Stop asking for name your ship. Rare is aware but it’s not something simpler to implement. They know people won’t be satisfied with ship names just floating in text above the ship as if it was a pet name.
While I understand the frustration some users feel from seeing the constant request for things such as this, related to the long previous mentioned "Captaincy Update", I also understand (and am a part of) the group that is frustrated that we haven't even heard nary a word on the Captaincy update since Year 1 of the game.

@illbushido305 Sorry telephone tough guy. I didn't mean to put you in a bad mood. I didn't buy the pass nor will I. Enjoy your next 3 months with one new quest and some items in the pl cave.
The Patch Notes/Tweets/Videos/etc. talking about Season 1 also state that there are going to be events during each Season as well (i.e. Grogmany, Festival of Giving, etc.). Events are still a fairly new feature and I am personally excited to see how these events will fair out and evolve.

@burnbacon leave it to a child to assume that everybody on the internet is a child. I get it season 1 has to start somewhere, but not with my money.
No one is asking you to spend your money. It is only an option, if you so choose. While I have my gripes about the Season, I do not think the Plunder Pass is an issue. It is completely optional, a good return on investment if you give the time needed to get to 100 in the Season, and not to mention there are tons of things earnable in the free tiers. A lot of people make comparisons to other games and their battlepass tier system, but neglect to mention that in a lot of those games the free rewards are few and far between with a heavy focus on the paid tiers being the majority of the rewards. Rare has not done this, and I for one appreciate it.
Either way, it is your money, your time, and your choice. No one can or should tell you how to spend it.
