Call of the Deep - Hunters call emissary update

  • Hello, I don't often post on the main forums, but will occasionally when I actually think of something good.
    I'm here to propose an update to everyone's favourite Shark hunter and slowest levelling faction; The Hunters Call.

    2 new voyage types;
    Voyage type 1 is pretty straightforward - Locate and find a specific type and amount of fish or meat within a certain area of the map

    Voyage type 2 is where it gets interesting -
    Merrick, or one of his extended family members has seen great wrecks of ships, all galleons, with large bitemarks taken out the sides.
    Set out and track down a beast using a trail of recent NPC sightings, and ship remains/floating wood, to find a GIGANTIC Megalodon, easily twice, nearly 3 times the size of a normal one, all covered in battle scars and broken off harpoons.

    Phase 1; The beast has 3 moves
    a Tail slap which spins the ship a solid 180* and deals great damage. Rarest of phase 1 attacks.
    a simple/regular Bite, which is just taken from normal meg design
    and a "Fast swimming" manoeuvre, which creates a whirlpool (which I have seen are in high demand recently) which spins the ship, sucking it down towards the bottom, where when it stops, lets your ship float back up to sea level.

    After dealing enough damage, it flees to another location, where you must track it down once more with a trail of blood, or similar

    Phase 2; Consisting of the 3 previous attacks, the second phase is much harder, raising it's attacking speed considerably while introducing a new attack;
    The Meg swims far, deep down, into the depths of which players couldn't see where bubbles start to form and pop beside the players ship. The water around grows dark and the beast launches upwards underneath the players ship, headbutting it into the air and dealing high damage, but not to the point of no recovery should the crew fall off.

    Rewards~
    Chest of the Deep - Raises chance of being attacked by sharks while swimming with it, and raises chance of spawning a normal megalodon (not Shrouded Ghost in order to keep its rarity safe and sound)

    90% of any other chests will have barnacles on them to show they've been under the water for a decent amount of time, similar to shipwrecked chests.

    Raised % chance of getting a Chest of Sorrows from the fight

    Plenty of skulls, and some wood crates to replenish resources after the fight.

    Now for the Emissary
    Successfully completing mission type 2 grants 1 full level of emissary grade at level 1
    Emissary Grade can be raised by killing megs, krakens, perfectly cooking fish or meat, and pulling any fish, or treasure, out of the water.
    Grade 5 rewards: Greater chances for rarer fish - Faster cooking times for Meg and Kraken meat, or trophy fish - Extends time between perfectly cooked and burnt - Faster fishing times/Weaker fish

    Thanks for your time if you did actually sit and read through all of this :)

  • Your ideas are a bit late to the party, my friend...

  • I like it! The chest of the deep is a good idea too.

  • I'm up for anything that is Hunters Call emissary

  • Good plan, but the level 5 emissary should in no way affect the frequency of catching rare fish - pirates have spent a lot of time earning what is possibly the rarest commendation, or one of the, in the game - this effort shouldn’t be undone.

  • I do like this idea! Hunter's Call is my favorite company and I would really like to see voyages and new cosmetics etc.

    I do fear that a meg fight would be interesting, but would ruin the rarity of the normal meg. I actually prefer voyage 1 for Hunters Call. Voyage 2 reminds me of a boss fight, and I like the ideas. You should design a crab boss or something else, i'd like to see that.

  • Even a giant squid instead of the Mega-meg.
    Smaller than a kraken, but you could implement lesser versions of tentacle grabs/slaps, and feed peoples thirsts for seeing an actual head, lol

  • mhhhh... well the first one at least, isn't as far as it may seem.... [evil flamheart cackle]

  • this is an amazing idea! i perfer to call myself a fisherman with the sidejob of being a pirate in the game, so id love this more than anything

  • I would love to see pearl diving as an underwater activity. Could raise HC emissary.
