Alt accounts

  • I realize that this topic has probably been talked about many times before but I cant seem to find a thread thats not 2 years old. so first things first, I would like to make an alt for sea of thieves. a buddy and I would like to do an rp on an alt where we get pl only by stealing loot from other pirates. no voyages and no found loot, it has to be from someone else.
im on pc btw no xbox

thanks to anyone who can help me with this.

you'll need to make a second xbox account (on a 2nd email address) and then log into that account to start the game. easiest way would to be to add a 2nd login on windows for that account and then run SoT from there.

ofc you won't have anything you've unlocked or bought on your main account

  • @quixoticrocket Thanks. by second login on windows do you mean when you boot up the computer you have two logins to choose from? is that nessasary or can you do it on one windows login? im fine with not having any of the stuff i bought on my main. ill still have the main so its not that big a deal.

  • Day they make a "secondary pirate" just for fun. I be happy.

the easiest way is to have two logins at boot. when you start the game it uses the currently logged in user's xbox profile iirc. i think you can log out of that and log in with a different profile but it's a hassle.

it might be different with steam version vs win10 store version but i think the other way of doing it is opening the xbox app and then signing out of the current profile and into the alt profile and then running the game. but if you play more than 1 xbox game then you're going to be constantly signing back and forth and it's a pain.

    up to you though

  • As long as the Microsoft account you log into Windows with owns the game (or has a gamepass subscription), I believe you can simply add another account to the Xbox App and switch freely between them. You'll just need another Microsoft account.

you can have a different account logged into the MS store so you don't need to buy another copy of the game.
so you can have the main account logged into the store (for game access) and the alt account logged into the xbox app when playing the alt (as neon says)
