Can you use Trickster checkpoint to get a megakeg?

  • Apparently with the tall tale keg you can detonate it. After so many hits or shots you can get it to where it would be a 1 hit explosive keg. However im not 100% sure, its something i read on reddit.

    If thats the case...
If its as powerful as a megakeg aswell...

Could we use the checkpoint to get to a point where you simply go and dig it up and use it?

Or is it easier just running an athena was waiting for emergent gunpowder skellies?

    Anybody got experience with this?
Potentially save me a lot of time., i doubt im the first person to think of this.

  • I haven't messed with the checkpoint but an athena bounty mission is usually a good way for a pretty fast one

I've seen a lot in shipwrecks but I'd say overall the athena bounty is the most likely to be the quicker method

  • IIRC the Gunpowder Key is equivalent to a standard keg, not a mega keg.

It's still a free keg that you can use to instantly arm your ship and under the guise of a TT as well! šŸ™„

  • @gundy-the-shark Thanks for making me aware. I didnt know that.

  • Meh, Kegs went out of fashion when fire šŸ”„ was introduced.

Only a noob would carry a Keg on their ship these days.

Don’t get me wrong they are still good for fun but if you wanna kill and not be killed don’t put a keg on your boat!

    Thats a pretty blanket statement.
Worked well for me so far.

The trick is to use them when being chased over long distance, not direct combat.

Sometimes it breaks their will to chase you.

You should have no kegs left before they are within firing range. Its definitely a noob tactic to be in a firefight and be within EOR or cannon range. No pve enemies except ghost fleet use fire tho :)

Mostly though ill just chainshot them at a fort and then take them out with the cannons.

They are really good for taking out skelly galleons when solo brigging too. I figured out how to be right infront of them at all times so dont even take hits and they sail into them lol.

you mean i can get a keg while getting chased on the ocean?

this way you can make them chase you and spawn you a keg everywhere and again and again and again.
No risk to have that keg all the time, just spawn it and use it. If you failed to keg and board, abandon, retry.

    Art of a Trickster :P

    tried it, doesnt work :P

Does the checkpoint allow this or do u gotta dig it up?

  • @DaringClarky the keg is not a keg as it seem, trying it actually

not working - the keg cannot get lit and if you start at that checkpoiunt you have to search and dig it again as it seems.

ok edit: you have to dig it again and it cannot be lit or shot, but if you drop it below a ship - booom ^^

Is it the same strength as a standard keg tho or a megakeg?

  • @daringclarky standard

  • @stundorn Aw thats a shame haha.
Man. Thought i was about to rule the seas more than flameheart there haha

  • @daringclarky haha - well i trid only one shot, if you hit it with the cutlass it begins to smoke and sparkle a little, but it goes off, same with an EoR shot, but i didnt try to shoot twice or more :(

  • How does it react to bombs and cannonballs, particularly at a distance with their splash damage radius?

Yeah, just drive by the birds and jump off. Usually a Keg mixed in with the Barrels of Plenty.

Then Line it up with your pursuer.

I have noticed if you Carry Kegs and keep them on the tip of the Galleon, no matter how many you have it WILL NOT damage the boat in anyway.

Then again you always have that one guy that INSISTS on putting them in the crows nest and that causes all kinds of damage and chaos when that goes off.

On the downside the tip of the boat is also where the crew likes to lollygag and it will usually kill them.

  • @glannigan

So true especially the last point , i am often the Helmsmann an i Tell them all the time dont stand anywhere that Close together If something explodes, falls from heaven or a meg bites you are all deadšŸ¤—

Once i got a keg driving by a fort tower and made my chasers have a bad time šŸ˜‚

    @Galactic-Geek when i have time i'll try this .
