Dual sloop, remove/kick player.

  • Let me preface this by saying I am a huge fan of SOT. Been playing since the second or third wave of invites to the alpha. Played it every chance I could up till release.

However, since release it's been very difficult to find time in my line of work. Maybe an hour here or there every week and if I'm lucky, maybe a night or two every month.

With that being said it's also difficult to find a solid group or a member here or there that's deticated or has a flexible schedule. I primarily play solo because of that. But on a rare occasion that I have time I will use LFG either on discord or xbox to bring a stranger on board.

What happened to me last night was the most blood boiling, rage inducing acts that I've ever seen from a member within the community. I'll post a link to the vid at the bottom of this post to really stick my point here.

I wouldn't say I'm the smartest when it comes to dropping off loot but when I go, I go big. I load up on voyages and try to knock them out as fast and as efficiently as possible. Playing it safe only half of the time but having another on board kinda helps keep an eye out.

After 3 or so long hours of grinding out the last 5 levels of my OOS this dude decides he's just gonna dump all the loot that I worked feverishly on. Guy wasn't in for maybe 30-45 mins after I had done all of the work. I primarily just needed someone to help me off load. It was seriously a huge haul. All of my work and time, gone. And I could do nothing to stop it.

Now if this had been an enemy combatant or some troll out there in the wild, fair game I earned it. But it wasn't.

My point here to the devs is there seriously needs to be some sort of admin roll when someone joins your lobby/party. Can't brig him because majority rules. And can't kick him because it certainly doesn't exist. All this did was waste my time and set me back a wide margin. For a lot of people, or few I'm sure they've had similar instances and they probably won't return. At least not in a meaningful capacity.

Anywho, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, forgive me it's been a long time. I still plan on coming back when I have a moment but I certainly will no longer use matchmaking or LFG. This was the straw that broke me.

  • They do need to add something like that after watching your video I’m acctually mad I believe you can report them I get that does not get your loot back but at least they will be punished.

  • @souleaterst1ch As a consolation, since you have it recorded you can report him. Doing this is against the rules and can result in suspension or an outright ban depending on how many strikes are against the account already.

    Report a Player

you can put down what you are looking for in a lfg open crew is a nightmare right there and wtp was wrong with this guy get free loot jebus

  • Recording of proof is good.

    • Not dropping anchor when you notice was bad choice, not using a blunderbomb another.
    • No rowboat bad
    • Hoarding 3 hours worth of loot, another bad.
    • No ingame mic, never trust those players.

Sadly, most of this can be pointed toward the player himself not the crewmate. But yeah the end result is fact, the crewmate did a worthless deed for no reason.

Sorry but for a Sloop to add kicking or brig would be horrible and trolling experience for those who seek out fellow sloops.

    • Join a sloop, spend time together and gather loot only for the "party leader" whom would be the one on ship first would kick the other crewmate.
or worse, just to be Brig and left there. (Sure you can leave but that time wasting and nobody wants this)

Anyways, Proof is what you have and should follow up with a report of the player.

  • If you think trolling is bad now.
Imagine how worse it is when a kick option is implemented.

You will get kicked just to make space for one of their pals,, just before you cash in.

Yeah just sail with discord crew and friends.

  • @burnbacon
Anchoring would have made no difference. This guy was on a mission and unfortunately that's the only clip I took.

We had a row boat and I tried to load it but he kept off loading and tossing as I went along.

I know a long haul is bad but that's my style. High risk, higher reward. As I mentioned in my OP I tend to take care. Didn't think my own crew would turn on the hard work(?) Makes no sense to me.

The blunder bombs went quick. But he still kept reviving and kept doing his thing. Can only take it so far.

Kicking or restraining someone in some capacity in these rare occasions almost seems sensible at this point. I get the opportunity to troll but that's a risk you should be willing to take. Shouldn't be a risk if you're already involved with someone you know, it eliminates that possibility althogether.

Keep in mind I met this guy in LFG/LFC. Hard to trust anyone after this. Beware people

Losing your long haul loot is only your fault if you lose it to other crews. Don't apologize for losing it because of this guy.

Please report him if you haven't already. These types of players should not be in the game.

I'm all for that. If I'm bested by another crew it's all fair and well. I've had my fair share of tragedy.

I have reported this guy already. Not sure it'll do much of anything but I've gone through the proper channels.

  • I don’t think this would work out logistically, but I’d like a reputation like Microsoft has when you get banned. If you have a bad reputation you get matched with similar people

It should hopefully get him out of the game for some time as i personally dont consider this to warrant a permanent ban unless hes doing this after previous bans

Doubtful that it'll be permanent unless hes been banned for the same reasons before

But hopefully with proper action the person learns his actions are disruptive and not at all fun

  • No, way. this guy should be totally banned for this. What possible reason could he have to be doing what he's doing other than ruin someone's time?

This is literally the definition of toxic behavior.

The people in here saying it's the OP's fault are victim-blaming.

The only thing I could say is when you're at this point, perhaps it best to close your crew to prevent jerks like this from joining.

    That video is infuriating. wow.

Oh believe me I'll be strictly going solo from here on out without a through proper vetting.

    Its a shame really
