Shark-size WRECKER fish.

  • Introduce wrecker fish into gameplay.

These fish are already terrifying. Imagine if there was a chance of having a giant one spawned in or around ship wrecks.
You see a glowing light through the holes in the deck. You know that if you venture below deck that you’re in for a fight.

Imagine seeing a crew mate swimming back to to the ship being chased by three glowing lights at night.

They could design a Tall Tale around them (a mermaid based one hopefully!)
You’re swimming through an underwater cavern, where you need to collect wierd glowing light source gems or fungi.... And you’re not sure from a distance which are gems and which are giant wrecker fish luring you in. The fish hide in hole in tunnels and under rocks, baiting their prey - humans and mermaids alike...

Could even be a regular hunters call mission - finding these gems/fungi and hunting wreckers.
It’s such a visually interesting creature design, and I’d love to see what could be done with them.

  • @mostexpendable okay, so I had some follow ideas:

Normal size “wrecker fish” could be a good visual clue for when you sink a ship (especially at night) and you’re trying to find loot. As the glowing lights swim around the wreck/loot location.

They could be implemented in something like the new lost merchant voyages - a unique visual way of finding the ship wrecks at night.

It would also look great seeing wrecker fish lights swirl around enemy crews that you just sank in the water. Chewing them up.

Perhaps when hunting wrecker fish players could swim with a lantern and pretend to be a potential mate... Luring them out. Then players must fight a disappointed and angry wrecker fish!
