Idea for a single controlled fortified outpost.

  • The suggestion would be to implement a single NPC guarded fort outpost with tall stone walls and cannons facing out to sea like the British occupied fort in the opening scenes in the movie “pirates of the Caribbean curse of the black pearl.” The guards or NPCs can man the cannons and fire at player ships who sail too close. The unique thing about this fort could be if you defeat or capture the fort it will be aligned with the crew that captured it. Who ever captured the fort, that crew can sell there treasures at this fortified outpost with its added protection to reduce risk of being stolen from while on the island. The catch would be that any loot sold at the fortress would receive 50% less gold as the loot would be shared with the fortress for it to give the occupying crew protection.
    The real PVP elements to this fort would be other players trying to capture the fort for themselves so even if you conquered the fortified outpost, other players can still capture the fort from you.

    This fortress satisfies players who would rather sell there goods with added protection for reduced risk and reduced reward while also attracting many players to the same spot of the map for concentrated pvp encounters.

  • @opticblitz ehhhh seems like something we would get for the anniversary event and most would not like it. That's like adding a forced pvp thing in adventure. some would use it most wouldnt.

  • @opticblitz I like it, 50% less is interesting. Gotta pay for "safety". I quote that because its not a safe zone per se as attacks are still possible just harder. It's something new and vet players could use equally due to payment coming from loot acquired. I doubt to many PvP players would be interested, maybe if there is a way to tell the fort is owned by someone on the server they might. It I see say a flag that represents a player controlled fort I could camp near it waiting for the almost guaranteed loot to float by

    But they must first earn this said protection...

    So far the ones who wish for protected outposts are those new or dont understand the game so well and most likely complain about this after they realize they cant capture it.

  • @rtl-saint if people don’t participate then they don’t. It’s really for those who would want to capture a fortress for its protection

  • This is a really solid idea. A king of the hill style event on the map. It genuinely sounds fun. An interesting way to inspire pvp. I would love to find sneaky ways of invading someone else’s base with a keg too. To blow out their defenses or bring down the wall.

    I think to make it valuable to players who seek pvp - it should come with a passive income that goes up the longer you hold it. It could even have an emissary flag to represent that to other players (that you can sell at reapers).
    Do you defend it? Or go out and find treasure?

    Sounds like a brilliant way to shake up a server. I hope Rare plays around with it.

    nope rare has said no fortified outposts in this game so think up another idea if you will

  • @closinghare208 well maybe not an outpost then but a location with a unique faction that you can do missions for that’s only located at the fort
