I believe there should be more checkpoints in tall tale number 3 the legendary storyteller. I have attempted it 4 times now and received both keys, but on my way to the third macguffen, I get sunk by others players. I really enjoy playing the story, but these players are making it impossible for me to complete the quest. The challenges on 3 are difficult but rewarding and that makes it even more frustrating when I lose all my progress in the quest after consuming many hours just to get to that point. The first two tall tales had better spaced checkpoints so it wasn't a total loss if I was sunk, but on 3 I have yet to reach a single checkpoint.
Tale tale 3 checkpoints- need more
?????????
You don't lose progress when player sink you anymore.
The items you get from Tall Tales teleport back to your ship after sinking. They only disappear after you use them. Unless things have changed.
@xultanis-dragon At least in this tale, the items did not teleport with me after sinking. I respawned somewhere new with the tale still activated for a couple minutes. After sailing for a few minutes, the game notifies that I failed the quest. The tall tale leaves the inventory and the only way to restart is sail back to Ancient Spire. Which is usually where I call it quits for the day, lol.
Ahhh, hmmm that is strange, I wonder under what criteria that happened. Could have sworn the items go teleport back to your ship. Well that sucks. All I can say is at least with each time you do it you get better at it lol. Good luck next time.
Where are the checkpoints for that TT? I can't imagine it's that hard (after all, I got through it).
As long as you make those checkpoints, and keep persisting, you should be fine overall. If pirates keeping sinking you, just jump to another server and pick up from the checkpoint. Eventually you will find a calm server.
In case you don't already know, you can pick up the checkpoint by going to your quest table. It's actually pretty easy!
You're probably having a hard time because of it being the holidays too - lots of new pirates about. Give it some time and I'm sure the waves will calm down.
Well thanks for all the encouraging words. Unfortunately, I tried it again today and got the two keys. On the way to the last part I was stalked by a relentless brig. Tried to out maneuver and run but they wouldn't give up. I had to get to lone cove somehow but they wouldn't let me. Sank me...again!! I tried to grab one key and swim ashore. They noticed and grabbed the other, then taunted that they had it. Frustrating!!!!!
@galactic-geek From what I've read online, sounds like first checkpoint is after you get these 3 items. I get 2 everytime, then sunk. The quest items only spawn with you according to the checkpoint, so no checkpoint, no items.

I'll get to a checkpoint and give it to you for your server if you want
@wolfmanbush Thank you for the offer, but either by a stroke of dumb luck, persistence, or pity... the sixth time was the charm! I finally completed the tall tale!! This time I did not even see one enemy ship in my travels, even though the Mermaid Hideout cannonball to the top challenge took me 12+ tries, lol. Cheers to Rare for keeping it fresh... all 6 goes at it I encountered at least 1 and sometimes 2 puzzles I hadn't done yet before. It was fun trying to figure them out. I still maintain the checkpoints should be spaced out earlier in the challenge though. This challenge usually required me to traverse from one end of the map to the other and that eats a lot of time. If I run into this kind of trouble with so few checkpoints during the rest of the tales, I may not see it through, which would be too bad because I have really enjoyed the first 3. Anyway, thanks for listening and thanks to the group for the help!
