Individual Pirate Lair

  • Let’s introduce a personal pirate lairthat would allow you to store loot supplies and could be customized with a variety of customizations ( bed, tables, chairs, gun rack etc. You could hang out, invite your crew, play a few tunes....

  • @alpine-canuck I think a personal pirate lair would be cool, not sure storing supplies is appropriate for the type of gameplay loop the devs aim to keep tho. However a private area that you could invite friends to that is completely customizable from the land, foliage, animals, buildings, and furniture would be awesome. Something akin to the wizard 101 house system. Would be an easy and fun gold sink that is purly cosmetic and serves no purpose other than creativity and bragging rights. Maybe some commodations could give you trophy's to display in this area giving people visual proof of their accomplishments.

  • Star Wars Galaxies had this in thier MMO more than fifteen years ago.

Thing is, SoT is session based with no persistence and this kind of thing detracts from the fact that your ship is your home and should be a target on the high seas.

How are other pirates going to sink you if your playing shanties and barfing in a hobbit hole?

  • @barnabas-seadog I would imagine it would be a separate instance from adventure. Just a private place to be creative and bask in your accomplishments. With this in mind I doubt players would spend loads of time in I beyond actually customising it. It would not have any sort of progression. Maybe it could be allowed to PvP in these areas so people can spar, but honestly I wouldn't care if you couldn't. The idea of having a visual representation of you accomplishments and individual creativity is an amazing idea to me, not to mention the very needed gold sink it could be. Also another way to sell emporium cosmetics. Win win.

  • @barnabas-seadog I've also heard that it would be its own instance so it wouldn't effect a server having one less ship because they are all in a lair

  • I would love if they would add this too, having your own space to hang out with friends as long as it doesn't effect a live adventure server. I think it would be good that people with a lot of money they don't know what to do with would actually be able to spend it on something customizing their hideout.

It would also be good if you could have more than 3 other people there for groups that have more than a galleons worth of friends online.

It would be nice if there were mini games too. Like dice, cards, dueling stuff like that.

  • @ExpSnailer @Muirist

A private instance? Where you're engaged with SoT but not doing something like a Tall Tale or vault?
Sounds like another MMO wannabe request.

I spend more than enough time rooting around my footlocker, flex on your boat on the high seas like every other pirate.

  • @barnabas-seadog Flex with what, you can't even truly customise your boat. You get pre determined skins that only slightly change the look of your ship and are limited to creativity. Not to mention how ship skins don't help the every growing and never ending problem that is pirate of bellaire haha some people have much gold and nothing to do with it. The lair would be a massive gold sink, everything you could customise in it with complete control and individual creativity would cost gold and not just a little bit.

The game has a serious issue that is growing rapidly since emessarys became a thing. Why not fix it with a harmless fun solution that does nothing but give player something to spend gold on and allow player creativity.

Also a game dosn't have to be an MMO to feature this. That's bizzar to even say, and frankly makes little sense. All game features can be in a game so long as it makes sense, dosn't entirely destroy the lore, and serves to make the game more fun and overall enjoyable.

  • @expsnailer Good points on the storage. Just an idea I thought I’d share. Might be fun to bury treasure at some point - is that something everyone could agree pirates did?

  • @alpine-canuck Per other comments, I think it's a great idea minus the storing loot supplies. It can't provide any competitive advantage.

One suggestion I'd make is the potential to add loot to the lair as well - the loot once added cannot be sold in any way - just a cosmetic thing where you can proudly display your discovered or plundered loot. Add in a few details that safeguard exploitation and give a loot limit to prevent other spammy issues of course.

  • I'd love this, and I've been wanting it for ages now. It would serve as a great gold sink (I imagine private hideout customisation would be very expensive) and you could have a few cool things there. Have some minigames, a ship dock and a treasure vault where the amount of gold you have is piled up visually.
