Roleplay Servers.

When i play a RPG or a game like this with all its lore and story i expect people RP by nature.
But i am completely disillusioned since Ultima Online and even tons of people who call themself roleplayers would not stand my definition of it and would be called excel-warriors instead :D

i grew up with DSA, AD&D 2nd Edition, Rolemaster by Queens Games and i managed a party over 7 years as the DM/GM and created my own world, background and more.

there is barely any roleplayers online and even if you get some P&Per players most of them will define RP as to develop the numbers on a sheet of paper and not RP.
Same for LARP's and whatever.

By the Sea Gods , man ,i upvote your post with two raised fists , no ,not from angryness but purely that i would like to see this done. People would be somehow forced to talk but when everyone would play their role and spice the " enemy" activities with some humour ,while still in the role of cullpritt i would bow on my knees for you and plead if i could play along...

There is nothing as immerment breaking as meeting Pirates that don't "understand " why you play a Pirate role , this way , likeminded spirits would find a playground where they could unleash their " actor" talent and improvisation... Stream that and i'll pay to sit on the front seat , Sir.
A great idea that i would like to see happen one day ... One can only wish...
Actually ,that can't be that hard to make ... A new option with a good explenation may come far... Sure some would join to just cause havoc but sometimes one bad seed can't pollute the whole garden.

Yes , Sir ... This game could be used like this ... i , even played a bit roleplaying with people , well i was more the " Eastern Europe" Pirate , an oddity on the Seas, but i got a lot of people laughing...

But as said above , not all people " taste" the humour and bring their "everyday" personality and "nowadays" items in the game and then the "mood" gets a bit broken... The fact that many now talk through Party and Discord alike channels doesn't improve the "feel" to go " loose"...

i've always felt that this game could be used for people like me: Too shy to try in a real theathre , too difficult to memorize textlines , and in my case not that great on English language , but still strong enough to improvise and make people laugh...

You know , making others laugh gives me such a boost in happiness that my English knowledge is too little to describe how that feels.... A server like this would feel "improvising Heaven" on Earth...Damn, i would love that this option would reach the Developers...

reminds me of Face of Mankind, full player faction driven MMORPG.
Didnt play it much or long, when it was re-released, but the concept was great.
But that was a year after my daughter was born or so and to get to somwhere in FoM with the community you neede a huge time invest i wasn't able to do.

@Clumsy-George it would need a GM sitting somewhere and be able to put some RP#ish action to those who disregard the rules.
But tbh with only 6 crews and 24 players this would be completely possible to do imho.

but i wonder if there is enough people willing to play that way.
The RPers are normally just the niche of the niche of the niche ;D

i think you would be suprized to know how many people would like to "dive" into a Pirateworld ... This game is perfect to do that , it's a sandbox game... The only thing ,if i could make a wish , was to add some kind of royal navy in this game . A royal navy as some kind of ruling party without ties towards the old Sea powers from the " Golden Age of Piracy" , just to cut a bit of nationalism out.

@daringclarky isnt that something that can be achieved with custom servers ?

i'd try it to, but english not my motherlanguage i for sure fail to do the RP i want to.
writing is one thing, there is allways google translation in the background for me, but hearing and speaking, reacting is something completely different.

and a german RP server - hell i'd do it if i'd have the time to manage it all, but i dont have it.

No , man...Don't feel like you can't roleplay because you don't master the English language perfectly . Hell, i couldn't save my own life with English but i don't give a damn , on the contrary , the accents we have isn't a curse , it has made many people laugh as we give uhm "colour " to their language , and yes sometimes it can lead to embarrishing missunderstandings but also many times when people are crawling on the floor from laughter without ridiculising us...

NEVER be ashamed or afraid to use your heritage , it can open more doors than you would dare to imagine.

very much true, my daughter laughs at me speaking denglish accent and not rolling the R perfectly.

btw - on "my RP" Server there would be the pirate code include a PARLAY code of honor golden rule thing.

all fine to fight, kill and rob, but not without parlay ;)

oh damn, now i'm already visioning some scenarios for a RP server ;D

lets hope these private servers have booty. Doesnt matter if you cannot sell it or sell it and it wouldnt count, but we can RP about the booty of the ships etc.

One thing i'd like is i can import my pirate in to a private session and maybe have some sort of session progression.
Like join the Server, roleplay, hunt for chests, messages in a bottle, hunt other ships all fine as long as you dont end up with nothing in your hands even if it is just a screenshot with the chest you found, robbed or whatever...

dont care for my accent, but to understand and react properly when talking.
But if we dont take it super serious - and i dont - the RP can also be very funny, if misunderstandings happen.
