A cool idea I thought of.
Just thought of it tho so it's a little bare bones but here goes.
RAFTS
Rarer than rowboat.
Found on islands, it has a sail and assembled with ropes and planks.
It's around the same speed as a rowboat but you can freely sail it without having to constantly row.
There is no cannons and a single cannonball hit would sink it.
Because its bigger than rowboat, PVE enemies such as Galleons and ghost ships etc will attack it.
They cannot be attached to ships either so rowboats will still be more viable but the raft would be useful if you are for example splitting from your crew to perhaps do multiple voyages. However if you have a harpoon rowboat then you could tow the raft behind you.
Could be useful as a Keg Platform where you can safely store and deploy your kegs when needs be.
Careful though, a well placed EOR shot will end that idea in smoke.
Now for the fun stuff.
Skeleton Rafts!
Basically sometimes at sea you can find Skeletons on board a raft at sea.
They won't be moving but stationary and will have a few chests and supplies on there.
Board the raft and kill the skellies and take the chests.
These skellies are supposed to be Skeletons who have been marooned by their ships sinking, or island skellies trying to get somewhere.
Be careful though.
Sometimes they have kegs onboard and a ship hitting a raft will instantly tear the raft to pieces and hit the keg on there.
In a way, it's a nice little difference to finding barrels at Sea. Mixes it up a little.
