I have always had trouble fully exploring the depths of Sea Of Thieves. The ocean can be littered with treasures at times but the biggest problem that arises is often oxygen. Sure, when you find a group of floating barrels you can easily removed them with a harpoon but what about the Mermaid Statues and the shipwrecks? Shipwrecks often have many treasures that can be very lucrative and the Mermaid Statues hold Mermaid Gems which can sell for a lot when given to the Gold Hoarders. The issue is that you often have to swim back up to the surface for air. But what if they introduced five equipment? Of course, it wouldn’t be anything modern day, just an 18th Century dive suit. It also would only prolong the amount of time it takes to start drowning so that you can stay down there for a longer time. It could sell at the Pirate Emporium for a somewhat hefty price to avoid too many people immediately getting ahold of one. I feel this would be a cool addition to the game and could make scavenging for treasure at the ocean floor much easier.

You had me upto the "purchase at the pirate emporium" negative sir. No buffs, debuffs or any in game advantage that needs to be purchased.
If you want it to be something you need to anchor your ship for and undock something so you can explore the floor as something part of the game I would be okay with that.
Your ship being anchored and the device being tethered to your ship would help balance out the ability and make sure the focus is used for exploration and not for combat.
@xultanis-dragon That makes sense. The PvP abuse is why I was worried about it being a free item but your alternative makes more sense. While I still can see it being abused in some ways (e.g. using it so that people can’t get to you and attack you by staying deep underwater where other players can’t go for as long) I still feel this is a better alternative. Thanks for the input.

Agreed, however, if anyone has any low hanging satchels big enough (get what I did there?? lol) to anchor their ship against me in combat then by all means carry on my wayward friend lol.
But if you want to rework the idea I'd be okay to spit ball with you. I always thought that Rare kinda missed an opportunity with the water portion of the exploration.
