Athena emissary quest not worth the grind

    Just my opinion, feel free to disagree.

    IMO, the grind to Athena 5 isn't worth it given the value of the loot you receive. On my last Athena Emissary quest, I got four regular ancient skulls, three ancient chalices, three ancient voyage crates, and the ancient keg. After the hours long process of grinding up to five, getting all of the lowest tier loot and not a single Athena Chest out of it feels... really, really bad. Its the same with the Thieves Haven run, but that's another story.

    Regardless, I don't feel like the loot you get out of it is worth the gold or rep, even boosted. It's the Emissary voyage. This should be the cream of the crop of Athena loot. If it's going to stay three maps, make all the skulls villainous, make at least half the digs gilded relics/kegs, and guarantee at least one Athena Chest out of it. Either that, or just a single dig map with 3 X's that are all chests or kegs.

    Blowing 3-4 hours to get to Emissary 5 for less than 20k in gold is nowhere comparable to any other trade company. You'd be better off doing an ashen athena at 5 instead of the emissary quest.

    dead server with a decent crew? worth it

    lurkers around with a lazybeard crew? nope

    by yourself on a dead server? why not?

    athena stuff has never been about the gold its for commendations and cosmetics.

    not everyone has the time to rinse and repeat the emissary quest but if they do once they hit the emissary missions it's a lot of help for people's leveling and worth a shot on certain servers

    once you see that server merge notification tho you might as well close up shop a good majority of the time

    @talosxlegion An Athena Emissary quest will always give a keg and an athena chest. The last map should have 2 x's.

    Yup you missed the quest thinking it was a message in a bottle quest....poor developers decided to give you a standard x marks the spot,..doesn’t pop on top of your wheel map or stay blue for Athena recognition so it gets lost in the looking at the garbage maps you pick up over time and some random map gets shuffled in the mix ...you would think it would go on page 1 maps at the top....but no sir...it’s just shuffled in like a card that fell out of the deck.

    In addition your looking at 1 Athena legend mega barrel per thieves haven run....if you get zero you missed out.

    So to get your 50 Athena barrels your loooking at 25 thieves haven runs and an emissary map Athena end with 1 barrel ..it’s not always guaranteed... you still have to transport it home...storm with lighting, other player’s and heck even your own crew might blow it up.

    I got three maps for it. One dig map with 6 xs, one riddle map, and one 4 captain skull map. Completed all three maps, no athena chest, and no additional maps afterwards. Didn't have anything else in my quest wheel so I know I didn't miss an additional one popping up.

    There is a 2nd chapter for that emissary voyage...when you've finished the 3 (riddle,skellies,x-mark the spot), you get another x-mark the spot with 2 x's on it...but that one doesn't have the emissary flag symbol on it, at least not always...just look what maps you have with 2 x on it...there you get an athena chest and a legendary gunpowder barrel...
