Good evening.
What happened :
We were 3 mates selling stuff to the Reaper. I returned on the brigantine, a storm was... you know, storming. Heavy rain, high waves on the coast, strong wind, stupid loads of lightning, as usual.
I used the harpoon to grab an explosive barrel in the water, successfully. At this very moment, thunder stroke, ON THE BARREL, blowing up my mate and I... And the ship.
In 2 years we were never lucky with powder barrels, anyway sh*t happens, we move on and respawn.
Where is the problem ?
Right after respawning on another island with a fresh new ship, I noticed that I've lost 100k gold coins. Exactly 100.000 gold coins.
After doing some research, I've learnt about that stupid idea Rare had in 2018 about "death fee", "death tax", whatever you call it. FYI, it was about deducting a small amount of money to a player when he/she comes to pass by the Ferry of the Damned. The fee can be increasing according to the death cause. I never knew about that until tonight and actually I'm glad they resigned before implementing it.
But did they ? Have I experienced a really sad (and oddly contextual) bug or is there a "death fee" in 2020 on SoT ?
I need an answer. For I couldn't find any recent news about that death penalty, I suppose they're definitely over with that idea and that wasn't the reason of the gold loss.
You can already guess what I'm going to do if this nonsense dev choice is true, I sincerely hope this was a bug, because it ruined a day long session of gameplay, along with my expectations for the future.
Have a good day.
