Useful pets!

  • Hello everyone i have an idea. What if pets aren't just cosmetics?
    When you start the game you can choose one type of pet when you are on the Mainden voyage but you can unlock the other pets with quests or level.
    The starting pets are default so if you want them to look cool you can buy the skin from the store ( The pets from the store are just for the apperance ).
    Pets abilities:

    Monkeys: explore the area around the player searching for food for example and it will pick the best food that it can finds and put them in your inventory. For the pvp part the monkey jumps on the enemy face and the enemy must take it away.

    Birds: Locate treasures with a visual effect. For the pvp part the bird gives to you the location of the player making them red for a few seconds.

    Dogs: The dogs scares the mobs so they start running, if the mob has a bomb it will drop the bomb on the ground and roun away sometimes. For the pvp i suggest that the dog bite the legs of the players so they move slowly, like when you take fall damage.

    Cats: They hunt animals for you, you will find the food on the ship barrels. For the pvp i'm not really sure, but it could be a counter for the other pets.

    All pet skills have a countdown, for the pvp abilities let's make it a high number.

    I know this idea sounds crazy but i'm sad that everything new in this game it's all about skins and cosmetics.

  • @loboestranho this would count as a pay2win mechanic which rare has stated the mictrotransaction store wont contain

    unless every player was granted free pets of each species

  • They've said they will not add items to the game that you pay for that provide an advantage or power boost over players that do not purchase it. Tons of games get flack for implementing garbage like this, and rightly so because it instantly changes the item from optional purchase to required purchase.

    The only power boost items you can get your hands on are available to everyone and found randomly in the world during your game session; cursed cannonballs, ashen winds skull, ghost cannonballs, firebombs, blunderbombs, etc...

  • @jollyolsteamed I do agree these suggestions are P2W, but whatever animals are classified as now isn't working...

    I threw in some money to buy a dog, because I was thinking "there's no way Rare could manage to mess up dogs?" right? But oh how naïve I was... You can't even pass food to your crewmates if anyone has a dog out, because [reasons].

    This is literally the only game I've wholly regretted purchasing microtransactions for, and that's including games I've thrown money into and completely stopped playing.

  • With pets being one of the qualities of SoT I really love, it'd be amazing to see an update dedicated toward making them more useful in-game.

  • This is not Zoo of Thieves, which is exactly what will heap were this to be implemented. Do you really want squawking parrots, meowing cats, and dogs barking up the wrong banana tree that the howling monkey's in?

    No thank you. Even with a useful l, they'd just get in the way, and limit anyone who chooses not to use 1.

    At least for now, they're optional so you're not as likely to visit the zoo.
