FPS caps at 30 for no reason.

    Hello! (sorry if my English is bad, it isn't my main language)

    I was just wondering if anyone had a solution to this problem because it is really annoying. So my FPS is fine at first, it stays at around 60/80 FPS which is good. But after like ten minutes, it just caps at around 30 FPS. This is really annoying and I can't find any reason why this is happening. All my graphics settings are common except for water, which is legendary.

    These are my specs:
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz

    I have 16G RAM.

    Sorry if I missed any specs
    I am also playing on a laptop if that makes any difference.

    Is the laptop overheating? Your system might be getting throttled after awhile if it's getting too hot.

    Try downloading HWMonitor to see if your temperatures are getting too high once it gets locked to 30fps.

    I use a laptop

    make sure frame rate lock is off

    what I do is I made a lift for my laptop just out of 3 pieces of wood that i put in a triangle (2 in the back on the sides and 1 in the front in the middle) this allows air to circulate better and it to not get so hot. Just make sure whatever you use to lift it is sturdy and small and stays away from the air holes

    then whenever I start noticing performance issues I remove any dust from the vents and make sure the fans don't have dust clogging them up this usually makes a noticeable difference every couple weeks

    after I end an adventure I let it cool down before starting another. Because of the battery system in a laptop it's gonna be running hot a lot from power usage and charging while gaming it helps to let it cool a bit without the extra stress

    make sure any other resource hogs aren't running while you game

    @D3ADST1CK , So when my FPS is at 60-80, my temperature is at 75-80 and when my FPS is at 30, the temperature is at 60-65.

    @WolfManbush , I have not yet tried cleaning my fans, I will do that soon.

    I cleaned the fans, there was a LOT of dust. After playing for like an hour, everything is still fine. I also tried putting up the graphics a bit and my FPS is still okay. :)
