Open Crew... working for anyone?

  • Hi guys,

even though I refused to go into random open crew at first and have been Solo-Slooping mostly, I gave it a shot now multiple times with all three shiptypes.

The situation is like this. I start a session and use a headset to communicate, I expect players to at least use some sort of text communication. Free or the in-game presets, though Voice-Chat really is the way to go. Nobody and I mean NOBODY was communicating. It was like i am matched with [mod edit] people that either join and quit again after 3 minutes. Or they just simply do something, without sense, without teamplay and it is a total disaster.

I just wanted to know, if it actually works for anybody or if it is a dead feature, that only works in theory. From my experience, I have to say it's the latter.

    Best regards!

  • I have had limited success from time to time. Did you try during peak hours?

  • @sir-buildalot81
exactly the reasons why i would rather chop both of my hands off than waste my time with this 'game mode' - it never worked for me, hell even with crews from community servers you sometimes just cant enjoy the game, gladly so it only happened a few times, but how much higher are the odds in an open crew. i dont know what this button is for tbh. its just a waste of time

  • @Galactic-Geek
I tried from 23:00-00:00 yesterday and today from like 15:00-15-30 UTC+1. More than a dozen players connected, yet it was a waste of time, as @CoyoTe4711 pointed out.

Will try to get me some folks for a fixed crew or keep solo-slooping, but it's sad, that it's not working in practice. In theory Open Crew is a nice feature.

  • If the randomness of open crew isn't for you the best way is to choose your ship size and start a game on closed crew gather some resources and begin whatever it is you want to do then open the crew. You get to set the path that way and people are more likely to stay if you have something going on

Open crew is one of those things you could go hours finding nothing then spawn in some big alliance server where it's very profitable.

Something I like about open crew other than getting to observe pirates in their natural habitat is that very often (this applies most to open crew brig) my spot is given to me because people are leaving the game due to some sort of chaos whether it be pvp or skelly ships or an event gone horribly awry and I like getting thrown into that action especially when it's some crew spawn killing my crew of new pirates then I get to go into boondock saints mode

Open crew isn't for everyone but I like it from time to time. People can get a lot done working together which does happen on open crew it's just the luck of the draw not all days are profitable

Mics make it easier but I've yet to play on a server where they didn't annoy me even with a decent crew. People with their non stop yapping and personal life background noise and their chewing and everything in between is distracting to me so I don't mind if people don't use mics. and I don't really care if they type I'd rather them be focused on game play both for the experience and performance. Some of the best crews I've had in open crew we pretty much never communicated we just quietly coordinated well and performed efficiently

  • I don't think calling people autistic is fair. Anyhow yeah most of the time you get teammates that don't work together, I usually just follow what they are doing to have some level of unity however when they arent talking this can prove difficult.

Majority of the time I will opt to play solo or look on the xbox community page for SoT for LFG post, alot of people posting there are looking to do what your interested in and will communicate.

  • @expsnailer sagte in Open Crew... working for anyone?:

I don't think calling people autistic is fair.

I called nobody anything, I described how it felt.

  • "It was like i am matched with completely autistic people that either join and quit again after 3 minutes."

This just is not a good way to describe people you know nothing about is all ❤️

Says who? Really, can you stop this? The adjective is purely descriptional of their behaviour. It's neither an insult in itself, nor was it meant to be. I won't respond to anymore comments regarding the matter, thank you!

  • @sir-buildalot81 Haha does it make you feel better about yourself to refer to people you know nothing about as people with disability?

It's just rude, makes no sense, and simply a form of bullying. Be constructive not destructive. ❤️

  • @sir-buildalot81 Ahoy there! Although it may seem slight to some, some people may have different experiences. Make sure we are courteous of what we say.

    Regards!
