Skeleton Brigantine (With a difference)

  • I think fighting skeleton ships is a lot of fun however i think its important to not do a simple copy and paste introduction but add something different.

    The skeleton brigantine..
Not as tanky as the skelly galleon but they have a new weapon up their sleeve....if they had sleeves.

They have the ability to harpoon your ship and drag you in close. Harpoons are on the side of the ships near the cannons. So they can harpoon you at any angle. You can break free by hitting the harpoon with cannon and a skelly will repair it. Its unusable again until a skelly repairs it.

When close enough they will leap over to your ship and board...or miss and die as they hit the waves. They will do this regardless if harpooned or not. So if you sail too close be prepared for sword leaping skeletons.

They will attempt to attack you causing repairing holes more troublesome....the trade off being a single deck, less tanky ship than gally. Being a middle ground ship they will spawn for all ship types even sloops.

I think its worth discussing at least

yes but only tryhards could beat it on a sloop

  • @closinghare208 How so?

  • we already have skeletons that jump overboard on a regular basis

I'm indifferent on more or different PVE skelly ships. I take them down for loot I don't really care beyond that. When you do something over and over the cool and unique factor is short lived so is it worth the effort for another skelly ship that people will get quickly bored of? I dunno

I like the harpoon idea but skeletons on our boats sounds like a glitch/bug nightmare waiting to happen

I mean if it's like a player ship in diesign then it will have four cannons tryhard go on brigs and sloops most of the time I've seen so for a lets just say a pve player gets one on them and they try to take it down but then can't so they'll have to learn how to fight it or they will nerf it like they did with the sword

Mate... There's players that can't even take a skelly galleon solo.

There are noobs in every online game. I'm not thinking of them when I post ideas because they don't stick around long enough to be part of the community.

I don't understand your logic in not doing it in fear of noobs asking for nerfs though?

I mean based off that logic surely Sea of thieves shouldn't exist at all?

Why wouldn't you want to learn how to fight it?

Surely that's presenting you a new challenge, new gameplay which ultimately adds a new sense of fun and achievement....as a solo.

There's no excuse for crews not pulling it off.

I get where you are coming from...

But for the small players that can't hack it as a solo... Why should it be a problem for those that can?

Why should we jog to the beat of the slowest man?
Weak players can join crews to make up for their shortcomings. Its a team based game afterall. If anything, adding new tougher PVE challenges will only enrich the experience in my view.

Thing is.. Its not some Bethesda type mod a community member has made. It would be a feature implemented by a group of professional developers and coders who get paid a wage to do this.

So that's a pretty safe assumption that bugs and things would be addressed and the thing quality controlled and patched when things get missed.

You said it would be boring?... Would 3 types of skelly ships be more boring than the current two ships? That doesn't make sense given its not a copy and paste type job, it's adding something new, a new threat and new set of strategies to deal with them.... Which... Last I checked is what makes games pretty fun and is no way different to other things they have added.

  • @daringclarky Brilliant idea

  • I'm fine with adding a brigantine-based skeleton ship. I'm even fine with the harpoons used for ramming (really, it should be added to all skeleton ships). However, skeleton boarders? Hard pass on that 1 - it's too much for the server to handle on the back-end.

  • @galactic-geek It's too much to handle for now I totally agree.

However if SOT remains popular perhaps the server will grow and have more capacity for such things maybe?

I remember the old GTA online servers how they got upgraded when the next gen consoles dropped.

Perhaps this could be something for a next gen sea of thieves.

    One can only hope. 🤞

yes but you have seen what they post if they don't want to learn the new stuff that's one of the reasons why we are getting so little content now

  • @closinghare208 They make up only a small minority of players.

    They exist in every game.
Ive read people complaining about the imposters in among us...read about players complaining about pvp in rust! Don't even think about them when you post something. I certainly don't. :)
