I cant get my mic to work and I have tried going into the settings in windows 10 but I still can't talk in game. It has worked before but it just stopped working suddenly. I use a blue yeti mic. There should be an option in the settings to choose what mic you want to use.
Pick what Mic you want to use in the setting for PC
This is really common issue and, yes, I agree the mic should be selectable in-game (or at the very least it should show you which audio source the game is using for voice input). I've posted suggestions on this previously in Feedback & Suggestions.
While the majority of players should have no issues with it, it can happen randomly and it's incredibly hard to find the cause and, therefore, solution.
You could try a few things:
- Disable any audio inputs you are not using from the Windows audio devices properties (recording) and make sure your mic is set as the default recording device.
- If you are using the Steam version, check if Steam is picking up your mic; in Friends & Chat go to settings and there you can check the Voice options and test your mic.
- Whitelist Sea of Thieves in your antivirus software.
- Double check the game is allowed access to your microphone in Windows privacy settings.
- If you are using a headset that has a mic you are not using, uninstall the drivers and roll them back to an older driver, if they are needed. I know of one instance where new Astro A40 drivers have caused the mic input to stop working in SoT (and, no, the headset mic was not even working).
