Athena rank up - Current techiniques?

I think the Thieves Haven run is the fastest way because you get more Athena loot. Do it with Athena Emissairy flag up for the Bonus. It still take some time when soloing.
For the Athena voyages, you dont have to deliver the cargo stuff. Just pick it up and leave it on the beach. Saves you some time.

whether you do the original athena quests or the haven runs leave all non athena loot

this significantly speeds things up

you'll be tempted to take the loot you're a pirate after all but it's not worth the time transporting it and it keeps you in danger longer. Gold is easy to come by. Athena voyages are for the rep not for the gold there are way better ways for gold.

take down every prespawned skelly sloop and meg you see

captain riddles help with rep do the quick clues

Don't spend any extra time on land get in get out with only the athena loot and move quickly to the next spot. Athena runners are always at risk.

Haven is better for loot but easier for pirates to hunt and disrupt (especially a solo) an original athena gives you more options when you need them.

I'm maxed on athena but I still run them to keep on the top tier of the emissary ledger. I do the original athena and take a couple tries on the voyage table to get a route i want and islands i want

riddles/cargo don't matter as much I want my dig islands to be as easy as possible and my skellies to be on small islands for 2 reasons they are easy to find and easy to cannon

a good route mixed with good islands for dig/skelly and only picking up athena items is the way to go imo

both athena voyages you have a chance to dig up athena kegs but the haven voyage you have a chance to dig up a legends chest I've found a few on haven voyages

sell on a regular basis. It's better to cash in items at grade 2 or 3 then to lose all your loot thanks to a series of unfortunate events while waiting to hit 4 or 5

Yeah what @Schwammlgott and @WolfManbush said. Plus Thieves Haven run costs doubloons.
And if you have a day with more time for the game and hit emissary grade 5 do the emissary voyage like @ReapingLegion explained.

I tried a Thieves Haven and the first map had a weird bug where no sound was made when I started digging up the buried treasure then the last one was on a cliff edge on the south edge. When I started digging most of the time it was a silent dig, or a clunk like digging rock. Not exactly an inspiring thing to see on the first run and potentially losing 50 doubloons in the process!

I spent so long trying to find the last of the three on the first map that I gave up doing anything else, so I guess I did lose my 50.

the lack of sound when hitting treasure has been affecting me too but you still get the non clunk sound (at least I do) of the specific treasure you found like the athena item sound and gem sound etc

I miss the clunk but you do get used to it just gotta focus a little while digging

Ok, thats weird. Never had one so close to the edge. Sometimes I have missing sounds too but you still get the treasure. I got used to the big Island and find the X pretty fast. Too bad you had this experience.

Maybe you should have a look here so you can see what will happen on this voyage.
Chapter 2 and Chapter 4 will have these special Skeletons (Shadows of Fate) and you have to be prepared for it with the right flame.

This probably isn't at the edge...I'd say it's a level lower where you have to jump down...so the only way to get there...had that already a couple of times
